Are springs included?

Yes. The US version includes four main springs, 12.0 kgf/mm (672 lbs/in) at the front and 8.0 kgf/mm (448 lbs/in) at the rear. Stiffer pairs can be requested when ordering: 14 or 16 kgf/mm for the front and 10 or 12 kgf/mm for the rear.

How low do the Mono Racing Coilovers for ND set the car?

TEIN recommends 1.4 to 2.2 inches lower at the front and 1.2 to 2.0 inches lower at the rear. Those figures come from a listing measured on 14K and 10K springs, so the supplied US-spec springs may give different heights.

Does the kit fit the MX-5 RF?

Yes. TEIN lists the kit for the ND MX-5 Miata from 2016 and the MX-5 RF from 2017. The typical rear setting is slightly lower on the RF, about 1.8 inches against 1.6 inches on the soft top. Both share the same front figure.

Is this kit too stiff for daily driving?

No, not for most owners. The TEIN Mono Racing Coilovers for ND are built for circuit work but remain usable on the street, and the US-spec springs are the softest rates offered. Full-length adjustment and the 16-level knob both help keep the ride comfortable.

Can the damping be set without reaching the dampers?

Only with an optional TEIN EDFC controller, which swaps the knob on each damper for a stepping motor; EDFC ACTIVE versions go further and adjust automatically by G-force and speed. Without one, the 16-level adjusters are turned by hand at each corner.

Description

TEIN Mono Racing Coilovers for ND Mazda MX-5 Miata and MX-5 RF

TEIN’s Mono Racing Coilovers for ND MX-5 Miata and MX-5 RF balance roll between the axles, with the front tuned for road feel and natural steering and the rear for more grip and traction. Near the limit the rear stays calm, the way TEIN wants a rear-drive car to behave. US kits arrive with 12.0 kgf/mm front and 8.0 kgf/mm rear springs. It is a kit for owners who take the Miata to the circuit; a car that only commutes needs less.

Setup and Ride Height

Every corner uses a mono-tube damper whose oil and gas never mix, so damping stays consistent through a long session. One top-mounted knob adjusts compression and rebound together over 16 levels through ADVANCE M.S.V. valving. TEIN’s typical setting lowers the car about 1.8 inches at the front and 1.6 inches at the rear, or 1.8 inches at the rear of the RF.

Features

Full-length bodies change ride height with little effect on ride quality
Micro speed valve keeps damping control at very low piston speeds
Spring and damping settings derived from the TEIN Super Racing flagship
Damping Force Customize System offers revalving or stroke changes at purchase
EDFC compatible, so damping can move to an optional in-cabin controller

About TEIN

TEIN was founded in Yokohama, Japan, in 1985 by former rally mechanic Hakaru Ichino, joined soon after by driver Yoshio Fujimoto. The team reached the World Rally Championship in 1989, and in 1995 Fujimoto won the Safari Rally in a Toyota Celica GT-FOUR, the first Japanese driver to do so. TEIN launched its own dampers in 1990 and came to supply around 80 percent of the dampers in the N1 Taikyu endurance series. TEIN USA has served the Americas from Downey, California, since 2001.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. In short, prices may change without notice. It is always advised to give us a call prior to placing your order online to confirm availability and to confirm current pricing.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
