Yes. Four springs are supplied, 9.0 kgf/mm, or 504 lbs/in, at the front and 10.0 kgf/mm, or 560 lbs/in, at the rear. Each spring sits on a wrought aluminium seat, and ride height is set by the damper case rather than by compressing the spring.

How much lower will the car sit?

TEIN recommends 1.4 to 2.2 inches lower at the front and 1.0 to 1.8 inches lower at the rear on a Model 3. On a Model Y, the recommended setting is 1.0 to 1.8 inches lower at both ends, within the wider adjustable ranges listed above.

Is installation different on the Model Y?

Yes. TEIN gives specific damper dimensions for the Model Y that must be set during installation: 134, 42, 457 and 365 mm for the front A to D measurements, and 213, 366 and 34 mm for the rear A, C and D measurements.

Will the ride be more comfortable than stock?

That is the aim. TEIN tuned the TEIN Flex Z Coilovers for RWD to cut the stiff ticking and small oscillation of the factory setup, improving both comfort and control, and the 16-level adjuster lets the owner choose a softer or firmer setting.

TEIN Flex Z Coilovers for RWD Tesla Model 3 and Model Y

TEIN’s Flex Z Coilovers for RWD Tesla Model 3 and Model Y are aimed at the stiff ticking and small, constant oscillation that the single-motor cars pass into the cabin on everyday roads. TEIN set the twin-tube dampers to calm those motions and to give better control than the factory setup, on 9.0 kgf/mm front and 10.0 kgf/mm rear springs. The kit is for owners who want a lower stance and an easier commute, and it is not a track kit.

Fitting Notes

A sealed twin-tube design provides the long stroke and low friction a comfort-oriented kit relies on. Height comes from case length, leaving spring preload alone, and each damper carries a 16-level ADVANCE Needle adjuster. Model Y installs need the dampers preset to TEIN’s specified lengths before they go in, and TEIN recommends its EDFC controller for the rear pair.

About TEIN

TEIN was founded in Yokohama, Japan, in 1985 by former rally mechanic Hakaru Ichino, joined soon after by driver Yoshio Fujimoto. The team reached the World Rally Championship in 1989, and in 1995 Fujimoto won the Safari Rally in a Toyota Celica GT-FOUR, the first Japanese driver to do so. Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule.
