Which hoods does the Tsuchinoko Intake Kit for DC5 cars clear?

The Tsuchinoko Intake Kit for DC5 cars fits under the stock hood and stock-shape aftermarket hoods without changes. Hoods with ducts or vents may interfere with the intake duct, and in that case the hood has to be trimmed where it touches.

Do I need an engine torque damper?

It is not part of the kit, but the manufacturer recommends one. The DC5 engine moves forward and back during launches and sports driving; clearances allow for it, but a damper limits large movements. Check the engine mounts for wear before installing.

What is the difference between the Carbon and FRP options?

Only the main intake duct changes. The Carbon option has a carbon duct and the FRP option an FRP duct; the intake panel, chamber box and filter joint are FRP in both. The Tsuchinoko Intake Kit for DC5 cars flows the same either way, so choose by looks and budget.

Can the filter be cleaned?

Yes. When the cotton filter gets dirty it can be cleaned with the optional cleaning kit and reused, and replacement filters are also available, so the large filter is not a one-time item. Inspect it at regular intervals and clean it before it clogs.

Does it work with an aftermarket front bumper?

The manufacturer lists two bumpers: the stock DC5 bumper and its own Type-S aero bumper. Other aftermarket bumpers are not mentioned, and the intake panel relies on the grille opening, so confirm compatibility with Bulletproof Automotive before combining it with a different bumper.

Description

J’s Racing Tsuchinoko Intake Kit for DC5 Honda Integra Type R and Acura RSX

J’s Racing’s Tsuchinoko Intake Kit for DC5 Integra Type R owners is the air intake system the Osaka tuner spent a year developing, and J’s claims it takes in more fresh air than any other bolt-on intake. A panel in the left side of the bumper grille feeds a NASA-style main duct along the factory intake route, while a sub-duct gathers air that escapes over the grille and under the hood. The 8000cc chamber box holds a large cotton filter. Owners running a vented aftermarket hood should expect to trim it.

Design and Performance

The NASA-shaped main duct uses ram pressure and a venturi effect, raising intake flow even with the car standing still. Inside the box, air enters at the top and the curved sides turn it down to the lower rear so it reaches the whole filter face.

Features

Intake panel draws fresh air from the left of the bumper grille
NASA-style main duct plus a sub-duct for extra air
8000cc chamber box with a large cotton filter

The DC5 engine rocks fore and aft under load, so J’s Racing recommends an engine torque damper and asks you to check the engine mounts before fitting
J’s Racing USA files the kit under the Acura RSX; J’s Racing Japan designed it for the DC5 Integra Type R
Made to order in Japan; Bulletproof Automotive confirms the lead time through J’s Racing USA after you order

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
