Does the Final Gear Set for DC5 cars include a differential?

No. The Final Gear Set for DC5 cars contains one countershaft and one ring gear. A limited slip differential is a separate purchase; the manufacturer offers a mechanical 1.5-way unit for the DC5, and fitting both at once saves opening the transmission twice.

Which final ratio should I choose?

The 5.1 option is a 5.062 ratio against the stock 4.764. The 5.3 option is shorter again, though its exact figure is not published. Shorter gearing sharpens acceleration and keeps the engine higher in its rev range while trimming top speed, so choose by the circuits you drive most.

How does the DLC and WPC version differ from the WPC version?

Both use WPC peening, which hardens the gear surface, raises fatigue strength and leaves fine dimples that hold oil. The DLC and WPC version adds a diamond-like carbon coating on the driven gear to cut friction and wear further, and is recommended for endurance racing on high-grip tires and time attack.

Will it lower my top speed?

Yes. The manufacturer states that top speed is sacrificed somewhat because every gear becomes shorter. In exchange, acceleration improves and the gaps close up, so the engine stays in its strongest range after each shift. The Final Gear Set for DC5 cars makes most sense where corners, not top speed, set the lap time.

Can I fit the gears myself?

The manufacturer recommends precision assembly at a professional shop, with every fastener torqued to the specified value. Changing a final drive means removing and dismantling the transmission and setting up the new gears, so it is a job for a transmission builder with the right tools and experience, not a driveway project.

Description

J’s Racing Final Gear Set for DC5 Honda Integra Type R and Acura RSX

J’s Racing’s Final Gear Set for DC5 Integra Type R and RSX drivers shortens the overall gearing by swapping the stock 4.764 final drive for a lower ratio, 5.062 in the 5.1 option. Peak torque is unchanged, but the torque curve moves toward lower rpm, acceleration improves and the gears link up more closely, at some cost in top speed. The Osaka tuner offers WPC or DLC with WPC treatment, both meant to survive long circuit sessions on sticky tires. It suits a car that sees real track time.

Design and Performance

J’s Racing frames the ratio choice around VTEC driving: shifting up before a corner, holding third without dropping to second, or using all six gears on a given circuit. In the DLC and WPC version the driven gear is DLC coated and the ring gear WPC treated, which J’s says lowers friction and oil temperature and cuts the risk of a transmission failure that starts at the final drive.

Features

Shorter final drive: 5.062 in the 5.1 option against the stock 4.764
Torque curve shifts toward lower rpm while peak torque stays the same
WPC peening raises surface hardness and fatigue strength to resist gear chipping
Fine WPC dimples hold oil on the gear surface to keep wear to a minimum
Countershaft and ring gear supplied together as a matched set

What’s Included

Countershaft (x1)
Ring gear (x1)

Applications

Acura RSX Type S: DC5 | 2002-2006 | 2.0L K20A2
Honda Integra Type R: DC5 | 2001-2006 | 2.0L K20A

Notes

Options: Choose Coating selects DLC and WPC or WPC only, and Choose Final Ratio selects 5.1 or 5.3; the 5.1 option is a 5.062 ratio
J’s Racing USA lists this set under the Acura RSX, but the 4.764 stock ratio quoted is the Integra Type R figure, so confirm your transmission first
Each set ships from Japan via J’s Racing USA, and Bulletproof Automotive confirms the lead time when you order; the 1.5-Way LSD for the DC5 Integra Type R and RSX is listed separately

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
