Will the Stainless Brake Lines for EK9 cars fit a US Civic?

No, only the Japanese EK9 is confirmed. The Stainless Brake Lines for EK9 cars are produced for the Japanese-market Civic Type R with the B16B engine. Brake hose fitment on the US-market EK Civic has not been confirmed by the manufacturer, so send us your model and year and we will look into it before you order.

Why replace the factory rubber hoses?

Rubber hoses soften with heat. During hard braking the hot fluid makes them swell, so the pedal travels further and feels spongy. These lines use PTFE hose in stainless mesh, which the manufacturer says hardly expands even at high temperature and pressure, giving a firmer and more consistent pedal.

Can I install them myself?

No. The manufacturer classes brake lines as safety-critical parts and asks that fitting be done by a qualified workshop able to carry out brake work. It accepts no responsibility for problems caused by poor fitting or incomplete air bleeding. Read the instructions supplied in the package before any work starts.

Are the lines tested before shipping?

Yes. Every hose is pressurized and checked for leaks before it leaves the factory, according to the Osaka tuner. The company also says the durability of its brake line system has been proven in motorsport, which is why it recommends the lines for everything from street driving to the circuit.

What are the fittings made of?

The fittings are SUS stainless steel. The manufacturer chose stainless to prevent rust and to resist deterioration over time, which matters on an older car driven through wet winters. The hose itself is PTFE inside a stainless mesh braid, with a clear coat applied over the outside for protection.

Description

J’s Racing Stainless Brake Lines for EK9 Honda Civic Type R

J’s Racing’s Stainless Brake Lines for EK9 Civic Type R owners answer a weakness of the factory rubber hoses: under hard braking, hot fluid makes rubber swell, and the pedal grows long and spongy. The J’s Racing Brake Line System SUS uses aircraft-derived PTFE hose inside stainless mesh, finished with a clear coat, so the line barely expands even at high temperature and pressure. Fittings are SUS stainless to resist corrosion. For an EK9 that sees track days or spirited mountain driving this is one of the first brake upgrades worth making; a car driven gently will still gain a firmer pedal, just less often.

Features

PTFE hose developed for aircraft use, chosen for pressure and heat resistance
Stainless steel mesh braid with a clear coat over the hose

Crisp, linear pedal feel that stays consistent during hard driving
Better control when ABS or brake assist is working, according to J’s Racing

Honda Civic Type R: EK9 | 1997-2000 | 1.6L B16B

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
