Does the kit include a release bearing?

No. The kit contains the metal clutch disc, the reinforced clutch cover and the lightweight flywheel. It is designed to work with the factory release bearing and uses a snap-in mechanism that makes fitting easier. Bearings, fasteners and labor are separate, and the manufacturer recommends a professional shop for installation.

Will the Hyper Single Clutch for FD2 fit a US-market Civic Si?

That is not confirmed. The Hyper Single Clutch for FD2 cars is engineered for the Japanese-market FD2 Civic Type R sedan, and the manufacturer warns that it may not fit the US-market FG Civic. Ask Bulletproof Automotive to confirm fitment before ordering for any car other than an FD2 Type R.

Is the metal clutch hard to drive in traffic?

The manufacturer says the high clamp load comes with good operability, and the direct engagement helps the driver avoid mistakes and reduces fatigue. No pedal effort figure is published, so if the car is mainly a commuter, ask Bulletproof Automotive about it before choosing a metal clutch.

Will the lighter flywheel change how the engine feels?

Yes. The manufacturer says the lightweight flywheel improves engine response, so the K20A gains and drops revs faster. The flywheel is designed together with the disc and cover rather than as an add-on, which is how the package stays light and compact overall.

Does it make rattle noise?

No. The manufacturer states that there is no rattle noise when the clutch is disengaged. The strap-drive design also lifts the pressure plate positively, giving a clean release when the pedal goes down for each shift, and the manufacturer credits it with sharp response to pedal input.

Description

J’s Racing Hyper Single Clutch for FD2 Honda Civic Type R

J’s Racing’s Hyper Single Clutch for FD2 Civic Type R sedans was developed with EXEDY, the Japanese clutch specialist, and combines a metal disc, a reinforced cover and a lightweight flywheel designed together as one compact package. The Osaka tuner raced it on its own FD2 in the 2008 Super Taikyu series, where the car reached the podium. A strap-drive cover pulls the pressure plate away positively for crisp pedal response, and the lighter flywheel sharpens how the K20A picks up revs. It suits an FD2 with added power or regular track time; for a lightly modified daily driver, the stock clutch remains the easier companion.

Construction

The disc uses EXEDY’s T5001 metal facing, chosen for high friction, low wear and heat resistance, which lets a smaller disc carry more torque and last longer than a factory-size one. Shaped, optimized metal pads keep the disc’s inertia below stock to protect shift feel and synchro life, and a turbine-shaped pressure plate pulls cooling air through the clutch to resist fade and heat distortion.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
