Does the bumper arrive painted?

No. The bumper is supplied in black gelcoat FRP and has to be painted before fitting, and paint is not included. The carbon canard on the Carbon option can be run as delivered, while the FRP canard on the FRP option is also black gelcoat, so most color schemes will need a body shop.

Do I need the early or late version of the Type-S Rear Bumper for DC5 cars?

Order the Type-S Rear Bumper for DC5 cars by chassis number: Early Model covers DC5-100 through DC5-220 and Late Model covers DC5-230. The manufacturer does not publish a model-year split for the US Acura RSX, so send us your year and VIN before ordering and we will confirm the correct version.

How do the ducts reduce drag?

A plain rear bumper traps air inside its shell, creating a parachute effect that adds resistance. The ducts beside the license plate and at each side give that air a way out, which the manufacturer says lowers drag and significantly improves top speed on fast sections.

Is the rear canard included with the bumper?

Yes. Every version ships as a set of the rear bumper and a rear canard. The Carbon option includes a carbon canard and the FRP option includes a black gelcoat FRP canard. Repair parts are available for the carbon canard if it is ever damaged.

Which material option should I choose?

The bumper shell is black gelcoat FRP in every case, so the choice only changes the rear canard. Pick Carbon if you want exposed carbon at the rear corners or plan to leave the canard unpainted, and pick FRP if the whole assembly will be painted to match the body.

Description

J’s Racing Type-S Rear Bumper for DC5 Honda Integra Type R and Acura RSX

J’s Racing’s Type-S Rear Bumper for DC5 Integra Type R and RSX builds goes after the parachute effect, where air piles up inside a conventional bumper and acts as a brake. Ducts on both sides of the bumper and on either side of the license plate let that trapped air out, which J’s Racing says lowers drag and raises top speed markedly. Side fins straighten the turbulent air at the rear corners and add rear downforce. Designed in Osaka to complete the Type-S aero set, it earns its keep on fast circuits; on a show car it is mostly about the look.

Design and Performance

The bumper is FRP in black gelcoat and is supplied as a set with a rear canard, either carbon or black gelcoat FRP depending on the option. Early and late DC5 bodies take different versions, split by chassis number.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
