Do I need to drill my hood to fit it?

Yes, the clips need mounting holes in the hood. When the protector is bought with a new Type-V hood, the manufacturer fits the two together before shipping. Adding it to a hood bought earlier means a paid hole-drilling service, so ordering both at once is the better plan.

Does the Type-V Rain Protector for AP1 cars fit the AP2?

Yes. The Type-V Rain Protector for AP1 cars fits any S2000 with the Type-V vented hood, covering the 1999 to 2003 AP1 and the 2004 to 2009 AP2. It does not fit the factory hood or any other aftermarket hood, because it is shaped for the Type-V duct.

Can I drive with the protector installed?

Yes, the car can be driven with it in place, but the hood loses its ventilation function while it is fitted. Remove it for spirited driving or hot weather so the V-shaped duct can release engine bay heat as designed.

Should I leave it on all the time?

No. The manufacturer warns that moisture can collect inside the hood while the protector is fitted, which harms the condition of the hood itself. Fit it for washing or outdoor parking in wet weather, and take it off when the roads are dry.

What is it made from and how does it attach?

The protector is an FRP panel that sits on the underside of the hood duct. It attaches with the dedicated one-touch clips supplied in the box, and fitting or removing it takes under five minutes, so swapping it on and off with the weather is practical.

Description

J’s Racing Type-V Rain Protector for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000

J’s Racing’s Type-V Rain Protector for AP1 and AP2 S2000s is an FRP inner panel that clips to the underside of the Type-V vented hood, turning the duct into a double-layer structure that keeps water out of the engine bay. It goes on and comes off with the supplied clips in under five minutes, so it can be fitted for a car wash or a week parked outside and removed for a dry drive. J’s Racing recommends buying it with the hood if your car lives outdoors. While it is in place the hood cannot ventilate, so it is not something to leave on for hard driving.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
