What is not included with the bumper?

The bumper ships with its under panel only. Canards, brake ducts, the air duct, a racing shroud, side wings and the Type X grille are separate options, and paint is not included. Replacement under panels are sold on their own, which is useful if the lower section is damaged.

Will the Type-S Front Bumper for FD2 fit a US-market Civic?

It is designed for the Japanese-market FD2 Civic Type R sedan, and the manufacturer warns that the Type-S Front Bumper for FD2 cars may not fit the US-market FG Civic. If your car is an imported FD2 Type R it is the intended application; otherwise check with Bulletproof Automotive first.

Does the bumper need to be painted?

Yes. Both versions arrive in black gelcoat and need painting to match the car, which is not included. Test fit the bumper on the car before it goes to the paint shop, so any adjustment happens before the finish is applied.

Is it low enough to scrape on the street?

The manufacturer designed the shape so that minimum ground clearance is not badly reduced, and says the bumper handles circuit curbs and is not awkward on the street. Steep driveways still deserve care, because the wing-shaped under panel is the lowest and most exposed part of the bumper.

Does the under panel need reinforcing for track use?

Yes, for high-speed use. The front wing section generates large downforce, and an impact with the road surface can crack or tear it off while driving. The manufacturer asks owners of circuit cars to add their own reinforcement and fixing, and it does not cover damage after installation.

Description

J’s Racing Type-S Front Bumper for FD2 Honda Civic Type R

J’s Racing’s Type-S Front Bumper for FD2 Civic Type R sedans belongs to the Osaka tuner’s Fighting Aero series and was a Super Taikyu designated aero part before it went on public sale. Its wing-shaped under panel is meant to add downforce without adding much drag, and the profile keeps ground clearance close to usable, so curbs at the circuit and driveways at home stay manageable. A large radiator opening feeds the core to hold coolant temperature down. It suits an FD2 built for regular track work; owners after a mild styling change will find it more involved than they need.

Design and Performance

Separately sold brake ducts add brake cooling, and an optional air duct feeds fresh air toward the intake, which J’s Racing says improves intake filling.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
