Do I have to drill the bumper to fit the Carbon Canard for DC5 cars?

Yes. The Carbon Canard for DC5 cars mounts through holes drilled in the front bumper, using the stainless bolts and nuts that come with it. Depending on the angle and position you choose, the body-side edge may also need trimming, so a body shop install is the sensible route.

Is it made for the stock front bumper?

Yes. The price list describes this part as a carbon canard for the stock DC5 bumper, and the manufacturer designs it around the factory shape. Fitment to aftermarket front bumpers is not listed, so check with us before ordering if your car wears a different bumper.

Why would a front-wheel-drive car need canards?

A rear wing adds downforce at the back, which can leave the front tires short of grip in fast corners. The canard generates load at the front to balance that, and the manufacturer says it markedly raises cornering speed, especially on cars that already run a GT wing.

What is the canard made of?

The blades are CFRP, a carbon fiber reinforced plastic, and they sit on stays cut from aluminum plate. The combination keeps the assembly very light while giving it a structure strong enough to handle intense downforce without flexing out of position.

Will it fit a US-market Acura RSX?

Yes. The Acura RSX and the Japanese Integra Type R are both DC5 chassis cars, and the US distributor files this canard under the RSX. The canard is built for the stock front bumper, so a car with its original bumper is the intended fit.

Description

J’s Racing Carbon Canard for DC5 Honda Integra Type R and Acura RSX

J’s Racing’s Carbon Canard for DC5 Integra Type R and RSX cars adds front grip to a front-driver, and J’s Racing argues it becomes essential once a GT wing is fitted: the wing loads the rear, and the canard helps the front axle find traction to match, which lifts cornering speed. The blades are CFRP mounted on aluminum plate stays, very light yet built to withstand heavy downforce, and they attach to the stock front bumper with the stainless bolts and nuts in the box. It belongs on a DC5 chasing corner speed or lap time; without a wing it is mainly a styling piece.

Tips

Installation means drilling the front bumper. Depending on the position and angle you settle on, the inner, body-side edge of each canard may also need shaving or cutting so it sits cleanly against the bumper, so plan for some fitting work rather than a pure bolt-on.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
