Do the Type-GT Bumper Wings for AP1 cars come with the rear bumper?

No. The Type-GT Bumper Wings for AP1 and AP2 cars are sold as a left and right pair without the bumper. The rear bumper, rear steer fin, rear board fin and rear bumper net are each separate parts and need to be ordered on their own if the car is missing them.

Can they be mounted to a factory S2000 bumper?

No. They are designed for the lower edge of the Type-GT rear bumper and are listed as repair parts for the Type-GT wide body aero system. The manufacturer states they cannot be fitted to a standard body by themselves, so a stock bumper is not a mounting option.

How do they create downforce?

They sit where the air flowing under the car exits at the rear bumper and actively draw that air out. Faster exiting air lowers the pressure under the floor, which pulls the car toward the road. No downforce figures are published, so the gain is described only in general terms.

Is it one piece or a pair?

A pair. The set contains a left and a right bumper wing, which is how the manufacturer supplies them. Both sides should be fitted so the rear of the car stays balanced, and having both from the same set keeps the carbon finish consistent across the bumper.

Do the carbon wings need paint?

Yes. Even though the wings are carbon, the manufacturer notes that paint is required separately. A clear coat keeps the carbon weave visible, while color paint blends them into the bumper. Either way the finishing work is not included in the price.

Description

J’s Racing Type-GT Bumper Wings for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000

J’s Racing’s Type-GT Bumper Wings for AP1 and AP2 S2000s are the carbon flow plates that mount along the bottom edge of the Type-GT rear bumper. Their job is to draw the air running under the car out from beneath it, and in doing so generate rear downforce. The Osaka tuner sells them as a left and right set for owners repairing a Type-GT wide body car. They suit a car that already wears the full Type-GT kit; on a factory body there is nothing for them to mount to, so they are not a standalone add-on.

Design and Performance

Under a moving car, air is squeezed between the floor and the road. The faster it leaves at the back, the lower the pressure underneath, and the more the car is pulled down onto its tires. These wings sit where that air exits at the rear bumper and help extract it, which is how J’s Racing says they create downforce. They work together with the rear steer fin, rear board fin and rear bumper net.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
