Does the 4in2 Exhaust Manifold for EG6 fit the EG9 Civic Ferio?

Not according to Spoon. Go Tuning includes the EG9 Civic Ferio in its listing title, but the Spoon Japan fitment list for the 4in2 Exhaust Manifold for EG6 names the EG6 hatchback, the EK4, the EK9 and the early Integra Type R only. BA will check an EG9 with the distributor before an order is confirmed.

Will it fit a 1998 or later Integra Type R?

No. Spoon limits the Integra fitment to DC2 and DB8 Type R cars built from late 1995 to the end of 1997, the 96 specification. For later 98 specification cars, Spoon offers its 421 Exhaust Manifold, which is registered for the DC2 and DB8 Type R through 2001.

Can one manifold really fit both B16 and B18 engines?

Yes. Spoon registers this single part number for the 1.6L B16A and B16B Civics and the 1.8L B18C Integra Type R. No separate version is needed for either displacement, and Spoon lists every one of these cars with the 5-speed manual.

Is the 4in2 better than a full 4-1 header?

For a road car on a stock engine, Spoon argues yes. Honda B-series engines are light on low-speed torque, and the 4-2-1 layout with the factory 2in1 keeps more of it than a short 4-1 design. A full race header suits an engine that lives near the redline.

What does the manifold weigh?

Spoon lists the manifold at 5 kg and ships it in a box of 36 x 38 x 20 cm. Spoon and Go Tuning both say the change takes weight off the front of the car, though neither gives a factory figure to compare against.

Description

Spoon Sports 4in2 Exhaust Manifold for EG6 / EK4 / EK9 Honda Civic and DC2 / DB8 Integra

The Spoon Sports 4in2 Exhaust Manifold for EG6, EK4 and EK9 Civic and the early DC2 and DB8 Integra Type R serves the B-series VTEC engines that built the reputation of Spoon, from the 1.6L B16A of the SiR and the B16B of the EK9 to the 1.8L B18C of the Integra Type R. It replaces the primary section with four pipes merging into two and keeps the factory 2in1 behind it. Spoon explains the choice simply: these high-revving engines are short of torque at low speed, and a 4-2-1 layout protects that range better than a short collector, while the factory 2in1 is good enough that Spoon recommends retaining it. Each primary is inserted into the flange so there is no step at the port, and the assembly is TIG welded. On cars this light, the weight taken off the nose is felt at turn-in. For a street or club car on a stock B-series, it is a sensible first exhaust upgrade; a built race engine will want a full system.

Features

4-into-2 primary layout for B-series VTEC engines
Retains the factory 2in1 section for a broad torque band
No step between exhaust port and pipe
TIG welded construction
Less weight over the front wheels

Spoon registers the Japanese B16A, B16B and B18C engines and lists no US Civic or Acura Integra models
The manifold joins the factory 2in1 section, which is retained

About Spoon Sports

Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
