Does the SW388 19 Inch Wheel fit both the FK8 and the FL5?

Yes. Spoon registers the SW388 19 Inch Wheel in 19 x 9.5J +45 for the FK8 and the FL5 Civic Type R, both of which use the 5-120 bolt pattern. One part number covers both generations, which also makes the wheels easy to keep when moving from one car to the other.

How does it compare with the 18 inch SW388?

The 19 inch weighs 8.3 kg, against 7.7 kg for the 18 x 9.5J FK8 size, and keeps a larger wheel diameter for a fuller look in the arch. The 18 inch suits owners who want taller sidewalls and a wider range of track tires.

Is the price per wheel?

Yes. The listed price buys a single wheel, and four must be ordered for a complete set. Center caps are not supplied with the wheel and are offered separately through the Spoon range, so add them if the car will run caps.

Who manufactures the wheel?

Tan-ei-sya forges and machines the SW388 for Spoon in Toyama Prefecture, Japan. The original 1996 wheel was developed with Desmond Corporation and forged in Russia until that plant closed in 1999, and the new production is made entirely in Japan.

How do I care for the matte black finish?

Wash the wheel with a neutral detergent. Spoon cautions that strongly alkaline or acidic wheel cleaners can discolor anodized aluminum, and unlike paint the surface cannot simply be resprayed, so a mild cleaner and soft brush are the safe approach for brake dust.

Description

Spoon Sports SW388 19 Inch Wheel for FK8 / FL5 Honda Civic Type R

The Spoon Sports SW388 19 Inch Wheel continues a story that began in 1994, when Spoon set out with Desmond Corporation to build the lightest aluminum wheel in the world. It took two years to reach 3.88 kg, the figure that named the wheel, and the SW388 went on sale in 1996, only to stop in 1999 when the Russian forging plant producing it closed. Demand from Honda owners never faded, and the wheel now returns forged by Tan-ei-sya in Toyama, Japan. This 19 inch version comes in one size, 19 x 9.5J +45 on 5-120, weighing 8.3 kg with a 64.1 mm center bore, and Spoon registers it for both the FK8 and FL5 Civic Type R. Choose it to keep a larger wheel diameter on a road-focused Type R; owners chasing track tire choice will find the 18 inch SW388 a better tool.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
