Does the S-Tai Under Panel for CL7 need the Spoon S-Tai front bumper?

Yes. The S-Tai Under Panel for CL7 is the under panel diffuser for the Spoon S-Tai front bumper, according to Go Tuning, the sole US distributor for Spoon. It is not designed for the factory bumper, so it should be ordered with the S-Tai bumper or for a car that already wears one.

Will it fit an Acura TSX?

No. Spoon registers this panel for the CL7 Accord Euro R only, the Japanese sedan with the K20A and a 6-speed manual. The Acura TSX sold in the US is a different chassis, CL9, with its own bumpers, and Spoon does not list it for this part.

What does a front under panel do?

It closes off the space under the front bumper with a flat surface, so the air passing beneath the nose follows a defined path instead of tumbling into an open cavity. Spoon publishes no downforce or drag figures for this panel, so BA describes its purpose without quoting a gain.

Which Euro R model years does it cover?

Spoon registers the panel for both production phases of the CL7 Euro R: the early car built from October 2002 to October 2005 and the later car built from November 2005 to December 2008. Go Tuning lists the same span, 2002 through 2008, for US buyers importing parts.

How large is the panel?

Spoon ships it flat in a box measuring 188 x 86 x 2 cm and lists the part at 7 kg. That size means freight handling rather than a standard parcel, and it also means the panel is easiest to fit with the car raised on a lift and two people holding it in place.

Description

Spoon Sports S-Tai Under Panel for CL7 Honda Accord Euro R

The Spoon Sports S-Tai Under Panel for CL7 Accord Euro R is the finishing piece for Spoon’s S-Tai front bumper on Honda’s K20A-powered sports sedan. Go Tuning, Spoon’s US distributor, describes it as the under panel diffuser for that bumper, and it is made to work with it rather than with the factory front end. The S-Tai name ties the design to Super Taikyu, the Japanese endurance series where Spoon develops much of its aero. The panel is a broad, flat part, shipped in a box 188 cm long and only 2 cm deep, and Spoon lists it at 7 kg. Fitted beneath the bumper, it gives the air entering under the car a defined surface rather than an open cavity, the job any front under panel exists to do. Spoon registers it for every Euro R it covers, from the October 2002 launch car to the final December 2008 build. Buy it to complete an S-Tai conversion; on a car with the factory bumper it has nothing to mount to.

About Spoon Sports

Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
