Does the S-Tai Front Bumper for AP1 come painted?

No. It arrives unpainted, and Spoon asks that the surface be degreased first because wax is used during production. The S-Tai Front Bumper for AP1 should then be sanded with roughly 800 grit wet paper, test fitted on the car, and finished by a body shop that can fill any small pinholes with polyester putty and surfacer.

Will it fit both the AP1 and the AP2?

Yes. Spoon registers the bumper for every S2000 it lists in Japan, from the first F20C cars of 1999 through the F22C AP2 that ended production in 2009. Go Tuning, the sole US distributor for Spoon, sells it for 2000 to 2009 model year US cars, so both generations of the roadster are covered.

Can I run brake cooling ducts with this bumper?

Yes. Spoon states that the brake duct openings accept 75 mm diameter ducting, so a car set up for long track sessions can route cooling hose to the front brakes. Feeding air to the brakes and other hot areas was part of the brief for this bumper, since endurance events punish brake temperatures lap after lap.

Are fog lamps part of the design?

Yes. Spoon notes that the fog lamps changed from CIBIE units to IPF units in April 2014, and the current IPF lamps take H11 12V 55W white bulbs. Owners replacing a bulb should look for that H11 rating, which is a common size and easy to find from lighting suppliers in the US.

Is this bumper a good choice for a street S2000?

It works on the street, but it earns its price on a car that sees long track sessions. Spoon shaped the S-Tai Front Bumper for AP1 and AP2 around endurance racing, where airflow management and cooling count for more than looks. For a car used only on the road, the gain from its cooling work will be modest.

Description

Spoon Sports S-Tai Front Bumper for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000

The Spoon Sports S-Tai Front Bumper for AP1 and AP2 Honda S2000 comes from the kind of racing that taught Spoon the most about this car. From 1999 Spoon concentrated its S2000 motorsport on endurance events, where a fast lap is worth little unless the car can also stretch a tank of fuel and keep its temperatures under control for hours. The S-Tai front took two years of racing and testing to reach production. Its one-piece design tidies the airflow over the nose while sending fresh air to the areas that need cooling, and the brake duct openings accept 75 mm diameter ducting. Spoon lists the bumper at 18 kg. It is aimed at an S2000 that runs long track sessions or endurance events; a car that only ever sees a show field will gain little from its cooling work.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
