What do the Engine Transmission Mounts for FL5 change?

They make the drivetrain respond faster to the throttle. The Engine Transmission Mounts for FL5 use rubber about 25 percent harder than the factory mounts, so the engine and gearbox move less under load and drive reaches the front tires sooner. Spoon tuned the hardness to avoid sending excess vibration into the cabin.

Will they make the FL5 harsh on the road?

No. Spoon developed the set with street testing as well as data from its race car, specifically to improve response without making the car uncomfortable. The increase in hardness is moderate, and the FL5 keeps the refinement that makes it usable as a daily driver.

Do the FK8 mounts fit the FL5?

No. Spoon sells a separate set for each car, and this one is registered only for the FL5 with the six-speed manual. The FK8 set carries its own part number, 50800-FK8-000, and was validated at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill on the earlier car.

Is installation straightforward?

It is a job for a shop. The engine and transmission must be supported from below while each mount is removed and replaced, and the fasteners tightened to the factory specification with the powertrain settled in its normal position. A lift and an engine support bar make the work safe and quick.

Does the set fit 2025 and later cars?

Yes. Spoon registers the set for the FL5 from the start of production with the six-speed manual and lists no end date, while Go Tuning sells it for 2023 and 2024 model year US cars. Later US cars share the FL5 chassis, and BA lists the set for the FL5 through the present.

Description

Spoon Sports Engine Transmission Mounts for FL5 Honda Civic Type R

Spoon Sports’ Engine Transmission Mounts for FL5 Honda Civic Type R apply to the eleventh-generation car the approach Spoon took with its FK8 set, with development drawn from its race car and from street driving. Stiffening the mounts is an effective way to sharpen throttle response, because the powertrain rocks less before drive reaches the tires. The catch is vibration: mounts that are too hard send engine shake straight into the cabin, and the FL5 is a car many owners drive every day. Spoon’s answer is rubber about 25 percent harder than stock, a figure reached by gathering data on track and on public roads until response improved without giving up comfort. The set ships in a box measuring 34 x 36.5 x 28 cm. It is aimed at FL5 owners who want the car to react faster to the right foot on track days and back roads; for an FL5 kept strictly for commuting, the factory mounts are a sound balance.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
