Can the Fenders for McLaren 720S Spider be fitted to a Coupe?

No. RYFT makes the Fenders for McLaren 720S Spider cars for the open car only and sells a separate fender set for the 720S Coupe. The Spider has its own rear bodywork, a retractable hardtop and glazed flying buttresses, so the two body styles take different RYFT parts in this area of the car.

Why does RYFT make a separate fender part for the Spider?

McLaren redesigned the bodywork behind the cabin when it created the 720S Spider, adding a one piece carbon roof that folds away, slim glazed buttresses and a tonneau cover with storage beneath it. RYFT follows those differences and offers Coupe and Spider versions of the parts that meet them, including the fenders and bridge vents.

What material do the RYFT Spider fenders replace?

The factory 720S Spider uses aluminium body panels, the same choice McLaren made for the Coupe when it moved away from composite panels. The RYFT Spider fenders are carbon fiber with an exposed two by two twill weave, which changes both the material and the look of the panels around the wheels.

Should the RYFT Spider fenders be installed by a body shop?

Yes. Fenders set the shut lines against the hood, the doors and the bumpers, and on a Spider the fit near the roof and tonneau area also needs care. A body shop with McLaren experience will align each panel, move any factory fittings across and protect the paint on the surrounding bodywork while the work is done.

How do carbon fenders on a convertible need to be protected?

A Spider spends more time with its roof down in the sun, so UV protection for exposed carbon matters even more. Clear paint protection film or a UV stable ceramic coating applied soon after fitting keeps the clear finish from fading. Wash by hand with a pH neutral shampoo and dry with a soft microfiber towel.

Description

RYFT Carbon Fiber Fenders for McLaren 720S Spider

RYFT’s fenders for McLaren 720S Spider cars exist because McLaren did not simply cut the roof off the Coupe. The Spider, revealed in December 2018, uses the Monocage II-S tub, a one-piece carbon retractable hardtop that stows in about 11 seconds at up to 31 mph, glazed flying buttresses and new bodywork behind the cabin. RYFT therefore builds a Spider set of its own rather than asking an open car to wear Coupe panels, and it is the right choice for a Spider owner who wants carbon on the body itself.

Construction

As on the Coupe, McLaren made the Spider body panels in aluminium, so these RYFT fenders swap metal for carbon fiber laid up in 2×2 twill. RYFT applies the same P1 inspired design brief to both body styles, with sharper curves and a more aggressive stance than the factory panels. Expect the twill to read differently with the roof down, when the fenders frame the cabin and the rear deck in the same view.

Features

Carbon fiber in 2×2 twill in place of the factory aluminium panels
Shaped for the 720S Spider and its retractable hardtop body
Same P1 inspired design brief as the RYFT Coupe set
Sharper curves around the wheel openings than the factory fenders

Applications

McLaren 720S Spider: P14 | 2019-2023 | 4.0L M840T twin-turbo V8

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
