Which Porsche do the GiroDisc 410mm Front Rotors for 991 fit?

The GiroDisc 410mm Front Rotors for 991 are listed for the 991.2 Porsche 911 Carrera delivered with factory PCCB brakes. They replace the carbon ceramic front discs with two-piece iron rotors, so cars built with iron brakes from the factory need a different part.

Why is the iron ring narrower than the PCCB disc?

GiroDisc keeps the swept band smaller than the large PCCB rotor because an iron disc with the full ceramic band would be unnecessarily heavy. The narrower ring holds weight to a reasonable level and lets the rotor work as a practical iron replacement on the car.

How many drive pins secure each front ring on the 991?

Twelve high-strength alloy steel drive pins, made by GiroDisc in the USA and cadmium plated against corrosion. They carry the braking load and keep the ring floating, with class 12.9 cap screws and hardened washers holding them firmly to the aluminum hat.

Is there anything to confirm before converting a 991 from PCCB to iron?

Yes. Contact Bulletproof Automotive before ordering so the full list of parts needed for the conversion can be confirmed for your car. The rotors themselves are a direct replacement for the factory front discs and bolt on without modifying the hubs.

What happens when the 991 front rings wear down?

Only the rings are replaced. The Porsche 410mm front replacement rings, part number D1-154, bolt to these hats with fresh hardware. Change them at the minimum thickness marked on the hat and ring edge, or if a crack reaches the edge of either ring.

Description

GiroDisc 410mm Front Rotors for 991 Porsche 911 Carrera with PCCB

GiroDisc’s 410mm Front Rotors for 991 Porsche 911 Carrera models with PCCB replace the factory carbon ceramic front discs with 410mm two-piece iron rotors. GiroDisc gives the iron ring a narrower swept band than the large PCCB disc, which holds the rotor to a reasonable weight. The ring is GiroDisc’s proprietary cast iron, poured in the USA and machined in-house, floating on a US-sourced 6061-T6 aluminum hat through 12 cadmium-plated drive pins. It suits the 991 Carrera owner who wants to track the car regularly without wearing through ceramic discs.

Construction

Twelve high-strength alloy steel drive pins, made by GiroDisc and cadmium plated, carry braking torque from ring to hat while keeping both axial and radial float. Class 12.9 cap screws with hardened washers secure the pins, and anti-noise spring washers let the ring grow with heat without rattling when cold. Curved internal vanes pump air from the hub through the disc, and slots keep the face clean.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
