What comes in the Black FMIC Matte Intake Package?

Six items ship under this part number: the black front mount intercooler core, the hot and cold pipe kit, the Redline matte carbon fiber power scoop, the aluminum intake tube, a COBB High Flow Filter and a COBB badge. The Black FMIC Matte Intake Package replaces the stock intercooler, piping, scoop and intake tube in one order.

Do I need a tune after installing this package?

COBB states that the Redline scoop can be used on a factory tune or any COBB Off The Shelf map, and the package listing sets no separate tuning requirement for the intercooler or the intake tube. An Accessport is not included. Custom-tuned cars should see their tuner.

Is this package legal in California?

Yes. COBB lists the package as legal for sale and use on emissions-controlled vehicles in all 50 states when installed according to its application guide. The California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers shown are D-660-266 and D-660-320, and both apply to this exact package.

Which WRX models does it fit?

COBB confirms fitment on the 2022 through 2026 WRX sedan with the manual or CVT in both USDM and ADM form, the 2024 USDM WRX TR sedan with the manual, and the ADM WRX Sportswagon CVT for 2022 through 2026. The VA WRX and STI are excluded.

How does the matte package differ from the gloss version?

The difference is the carbon fiber power scoop. This package uses the Redline Matte scoop, part 746150-RMC, whose coating gives a low-sheen finish, while the gloss package carries the gloss Redline scoop instead. The black intercooler core, pipe kit, intake tube, filter and CARB Executive Orders are shared between the two.

Description

COBB Tuning Black FMIC Matte Intake Package for VB Subaru WRX

COBB Tuning’s Black FMIC Matte Intake Package pairs a black-finish front mount intercooler core and its hot and cold charge pipes with the Redline matte carbon fiber power scoop, an aluminum intake tube and a High Flow Filter for the 2022-present VB Subaru WRX. Two California Air Resources Board Executive Orders, D-660-266 and D-660-320, cover the parts, so the bundle is legal in all 50 states when installed to COBB’s application guide. Pick it if you want cooling and induction handled in one order and prefer low-glare carbon under the hood; tuning is sold separately.

Intercooler Design

COBB set out to add cooling capacity to the VB WRX without the transient lag that long front-mount routing usually brings, so the Black FMIC Matte Intake Package uses a short pipe path. The aim is lower charge air temperature and more consistent power from one pull to the next.

Features

Front mount intercooler core in a black finish
Hot and cold charge pipe kit with short routing intended to limit lag
Matte-coated 2×2 twill carbon fiber Redline scoop replacing the factory scoop and front airbox half
Billet anodized clamps and all-black hardware
Aluminum intake tube from the airbox to the turbo inlet
High Flow Filter with single-layer polyester media and a precision molded rubber base

Notes

50-state legal with CARB EO D-660-266 and D-660-320 when installed per the COBB application guide
The Black FMIC Matte Intake Package includes no tuning; the Accessport is sold separately
The rear section of the factory airbox and its federally mandated hydrocarbon trap stay on the vehicle
Fits only the 2022-2026 WRX applications listed; not for the VA WRX or the WRX STI

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
