The Nitron GC Impreza NTR-R1 Coilover Kit is for the first-generation Impreza that has been driven hard for a long time and now needs the suspension to catch up. The GC is a light, boxer-powered car with MacPherson struts at the front and rear, and it earned its reputation by being quick on rough, broken surfaces, but factory struts that have gone soft after decades of use let the body float and wallow on exactly the roads these cars are best at. Nitron’s NTR-R1 replaces the factory spring and damper at each corner with an adjustable coilover unit and firmer race springs, with a damper built to control them, so the car holds its line through a corner, stays settled over a crest, and doesn’t dive nose-first under braking. Adjustable top mounts at both the front and rear give the alignment room to be set up for how the car is driven instead of leaving it to the factory mounts. It covers the full range of GC variants, the 1.6, 1.6 AWD, 1.8 AWD, 2.0 AWD, 2.0 Turbo GT AWD, and 2.2 AWD, so the same kit suits a lightly modified road car and a turbocharged build that gets used for rallying or track days.

Unique Technology

Each Nitron NTR-R1 damper is a monotube design pressurized with nitrogen gas, which keeps the oil from aerating and holds damping consistent as the dampers heat up over a long stage or session. The valving came out of motorsport work and is tuned to the weight and spring rates of a GC rather than adapted from a generic curve, with 2-way combined compression and rebound adjustment at each corner so the car can be set firmer or softer without pulling anything apart. The reservoir is internal, so there’s nothing remote to mount or route.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse.
