Does the Level 1 Supercharger Kit for E46 328i and 330i need a separate tune?

No. The Level 1 Supercharger Kit for E46 328i and 330i models includes Active Autowerke dyno-tuned software, programmed into the factory engine computer. It adjusts ignition, fuel, VANOS and rev limits for the supercharger, so no piggyback unit or aftermarket engine computer is required.

What fuel does the supercharged 328i or 330i need?

Active Autowerke designed the kit to run on 91 to 93 octane pump fuel with the factory engine computer. Use fuel in that range at every fill-up, because the dyno-tuned software is calibrated for it and the supercharger runs 8.0 psi of boost on the six-cylinder engine.

Can the car be returned to stock?

Yes. Active Autowerke describes the kit as a complete bolt-on system that is totally reversible to stock. The software lives in the factory engine computer and the supercharger oil system is self-contained, so the factory engine oil circuit is not altered during installation.

How much power does the kit make?

Active Autowerke quotes 320 horsepower at 7000 rpm and 260 lb-ft at 5400 rpm at 8.0 psi, and gives the same figures for both the 328i and 330i versions. It does not say whether these are crank or wheel numbers or describe the test conditions.

What is included in the kit?

The kit includes the Rotrex C38-81 supercharger, a CNC-machined bracket, a self-contained oil system with front-mount cooler, six higher-flow injectors, a bypass valve, silicone hoses with stainless clamps, mandrel-bent tubing, an air filter, software, all mounting hardware and an illustrated installation guide.

Description

Active Autowerke Level 1 Supercharger Kit for E46 BMW 328i and 330i

Active Autowerke’s Level 1 Supercharger Kit for E46 BMW 328i and 330i adds a Rotrex C38-81 at 8 psi to the six-cylinder E46 and tunes it through the car’s own engine computer, with Active Autowerke’s dyno-developed software managing ignition, fuel, VANOS and rev limits. Active Autowerke quotes 320 horsepower at 7000 rpm, a few horsepower short of the 333 it lists for a stock E46 M3. The kit runs on 91 to 93 octane pump fuel and can be returned to stock, which makes it a sound choice for a well-kept 328i or 330i owner who wants M3 pace without changing cars.

Design and Performance

The supercharger keeps its own oil, cooled by a front-mount oil cooler, so the factory lubrication system is left untouched. Mandrel-bent tubing and high-temperature silicone hoses with stainless clamps carry the charge, and an Active Autowerke/Bosch bypass valve vents pressure when the throttle closes.

Features

Rotrex C38-81 trim supercharger
CNC-machined supercharger bracket and hardware
Active Autowerke air filter, with some kits supplied with a K&N filter instead
All mounting hardware, plumbing, hoses and clamps
Illustrated instruction manual and installation guide
One-year warranty with free technical support from Active Autowerke

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
