The Nitron E30 NTR-R1 Coilover Kit is for the E30 BMW 3 Series that has finally outlived its original suspension. A car that’s now more than thirty years old has dampers that stopped controlling anything long ago and springs that have settled, so the body rolls, pitches, and bounces on a chassis that’s light, simple, and balanced enough to deserve better. The E30 uses struts up front and semi-trailing arms at the rear, with its spring and damper carried separately from the factory, and Nitron’s NTR-R1 swaps that for a coilover at each corner with firmer race springs, a damper built to control them, and adjustable top mounts so the alignment can be set up for how the car is driven. The rear is specified as a coilover, combining the spring and damper into a single unit instead of leaving them as separate parts. The result is a car that turns in with more precision, stays flatter through a corner, and settles after a bump instead of floating, whether it’s a restored street car or something built for track days. It fits the non-M3 range, the 318i, 318is, 325, 325e, 325es, 325i, 325is, and the all-wheel-drive 325ix, so owners of the four-cylinder and six-cylinder cars are covered by the same kit.
Unique Technology
Each Nitron NTR-R1 damper is a monotube design pressurized with nitrogen gas, which keeps the oil from aerating and holds damping consistent as the dampers heat up over a long session. The valving came out of motorsport work and is tuned to the weight and spring rates of an E30 rather than adapted from a generic BMW curve, with 2-way combined compression and rebound adjustment at each corner so the car can be set firmer or softer without pulling anything apart. The reservoir is internal, so there’s nothing remote to mount or route.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest.
