Does the Signature Rear Exhaust for F22 require cutting?

Yes. The Signature Rear Exhaust for F22, F30 and F32 joins the car after the factory pipe has been cut, and Active Autowerke prints the dimensions and cut points in the instructions. On a round factory pipe the joint clamps cleanly; an oblong pipe needs the joint welded.

How much power does the 328i exhaust add?

On the Active Autowerke in-house Mustang dyno, an otherwise stock 2013 328i gained 9 wheel horsepower and 13 lb-ft of torque from this rear exhaust alone. Results on other cars will vary with fuel, weather and any other changes already made to the engine.

Which version do I need?

There are two versions: one for the F22 228i coupe, and one shared by the F30 328i sedan and the F32 428i coupe. Each comes with brushed or black 80mm tips. Pick the version that matches the chassis, since Active Autowerke builds the two under separate part numbers.

How does the exhaust sound compared with stock?

Clearly sportier. Active Autowerke describes the new tone as sporty but mellow, exciting to listen to without being harsh on the ears. It suits a 2.0 liter turbo car that covers daily miles as well as weekend drives, where an aggressive, droning system would quickly become tiring.

How much weight does the exhaust save?

The factory rear exhaust weighs 29 lb and the Active Autowerke Signature exhaust weighs 19 lb, a saving of 10 lb taken from the very back of the car. The savings come from 304 stainless construction and a modular layout held together with V-band clamps.

Description

Active Autowerke Signature Rear Exhaust for F22 BMW 228i, F30 328i and F32 428i

Active Autowerke’s Signature Rear Exhaust for F22 BMW 228i, F30 328i and F32 428i replaces a heavy, muted factory rear section on the turbocharged 2.0 liter four with one that weighs 19 lb against the original 29 lb. On the company Mustang dyno, an otherwise stock 2013 328i gained 9 wheel horsepower and 13 lb-ft of torque from this rear section alone. The 304 stainless system is modular, joined with V-band clamps, and its adjustable 80mm double-walled tips come brushed or black. The tone turns sporty without becoming tiresome, which suits a daily driven 3 or 4 Series. Owners should budget for a cut, and on some cars a weld, at the factory pipe; it is not a bolt-on job.

Design and Performance

Turbocharged engines respond well to a freer exhaust, and the larger-diameter mandrel-bent piping here gives the N20 and N26 a less restricted exit. The V-band joints keep the modular sections easy to align during fitting, and the double-walled tips sit cleanly with the factory rear diffusers on two-door and four-door cars alike.

Features

Larger-diameter mandrel-bent piping for improved flow
Modular construction joined with V-band clamps
304 stainless steel throughout
Adjustable double-walled 80mm Signature tips in brushed or black, logo embossed on the dual-tip model
Lightweight: 19 lb against 29 lb for the factory exhaust
Tested on a stock 2013 328i at plus 9 wheel horsepower and 13 lb-ft of torque
Illustrated instructions and a two-year limited warranty

Applications

BMW 328i: F30 | 2012-2016 | 2.0L N20 / N26
BMW 428i: F32 | 2014-2016 | 2.0L N20 / N26

Notes

Choose the F22 228i version or the F30 328i and F32 428i version to match the car, as Active Autowerke builds them under separate part numbers
Installing the Signature Rear Exhaust for F22, F30 and F32 requires cutting the factory pipe; cars with an oblong factory pipe need the joint welded rather than clamped
Builds into a fuller system with the GESI Catted Downpipe for N20 or the GESI Catted Downpipe for N26, matched to the engine code

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
