Active Autowerke’s Valved Axle-Back Exhaust for F87 BMW M2 Competition and M2 CS swaps the factory rear section on these S55 cars for a USA-built 304 stainless one, and it keeps the BMW valve actuators so stock valve control still runs the valves. Active Autowerke aimed it squarely at the unflattering edge of the factory sound, replacing it with a low, deep growl. It is at its best alongside an Active mid-pipe, either the Signature Single Mid-Pipe or the Gen 2 Signature Equal Length Mid-Pipe, and each section is test-fitted on an in-house F87 fixture before shipping. Owners keeping the factory mid-pipe can have a matching version, though Active Autowerke needs to know at order.

Installation

The S55 in the M2 Competition carries a rasp that Active Autowerke treats at the connecting pipes. Active Autowerke was founded in Miami, Florida in 1981 by brothers Mike and Karl Hugh as a BMW service shop, and turned to performance in late 1995 when Karl, a University of Miami engineering graduate, led its first M3 and 325i turbo kits. Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer.
