Do the GESI Catted Downpipes for F10 need a tune?

No. Active Autowerke states that the GESI Catted Downpipes for F10 BMW M5 and F12 / F13 M6 need no performance tune to run correctly. Owners usually pick the GESI version because a tune is planned, since the converters are rated for 500 to 850 horsepower.

Will the GESI converters cause a check engine light?

Active Autowerke states that the GESI converters will not set a catalyst efficiency code. They reach working efficiency within 9 seconds of a cold start, and GESI applies its own precious metal loading to the 400 cell substrate to bring emissions down to the level the rear oxygen sensors expect.

Is the GESI set worth the extra cost over AFlow?

Yes, on a tuned S63. The GESI converters carry a rating from 500 to 850 horsepower against 800 for the AFlow units. On a stock M5 or M6 the pipework is identical, and the AFlow set adds a two-year code guarantee for less money.

Which cars do these downpipes fit?

Active Autowerke built them for the F10 BMW M5 and the F12 and F13 M6 only, the coupe and convertible on the 4.4 liter S63. The X5 M, X6 M and the N63 cars such as the 550i and 650i need a different downpipe.

How long do the downpipes take to arrive?

Active Autowerke makes each pair in-house after the order is placed, and shipping can take up to two weeks. Including the VIN with the order lets the shop confirm the car before building, which avoids a wrong-fit return on a part made to order.

Description

Active Autowerke GESI Catted Downpipes for F10 BMW M5 and F12 / F13 M6

Active Autowerke’s GESI Catted Downpipes for F10 BMW M5 and F12 / F13 M6 pair hand-welded 3 inch 304 stainless downpipes with GESI G-Sport ultra high output converters, a catalyst for each turbo of the S63 V8. GESI rates those 4.5 inch converters from 500 to 850 horsepower, which is the reason to choose this set: it is aimed at the tuned M5 or M6 whose output has moved well past the factory figure. Active Autowerke fabricates every pair to order in its Miami shop. A car that will stay on stock software gets the same pipework for less in the AFlow Catted Downpipes for F10.

Design and Performance

Back pressure behind the turbines is what limits how fast an S63 turbo can spin up. Active Autowerke answers it with a constant 3 inch bore and the fewest bends the engine bay permits, and the GESI converters keep a 400 cell substrate in the path without choking the flow a tuned engine produces.

Two GESI G-Sport ultra high output converters on a 304 stainless substrate furnace brazed to the mantle
EPA registered, OBD2 compliant GESI converters

Notes

The GESI Catted Downpipes for F10 fit the F10 M5 and F12 / F13 M6 only; other twin-turbo V8 models need the GESI Catted Downpipes for S63 / N63
Each pair is made in-house to order and can take up to two weeks to ship, so include your VIN when ordering
Shells and tube ends carry 5 years or 50,000 miles of warranty and the catalytic cores 2 years or 25,000 miles, for the original purchaser. Excess burble beyond stock voids it.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
