Is there a separate UCW Rear Wing Kit for VA STI owners?

Yes. Verus Engineering sells this UCW Rear Wing Kit for VA WRX models and a separate kit for the VA STI, whose trunk mounts are sculpted from 6061-T6 aluminum with hidden upright hardware. Both carry a 250mm curved-chord carbon element with 0 to 15 degrees of adjustment, so order the version that matches the car.

What downforce rating does the WRX UCW wing carry?

Verus Engineering builds the WRX version of the UCW to make and survive more than 500 lb of downforce. The load on track varies with road speed and with the angle of attack, set between 0 and 15 degrees, and Verus publishes no figure at a set speed for the VA WRX, so read 500 lb as the structural ceiling.

Should I add front aero before fitting a UCW wing to my WRX?

Yes. Verus Engineering developed the UCW for the track WRX that needs a large step in rear downforce to balance an established front aero package. The wing alone moves the balance rearward and can leave the front running wide in fast corners, so fit a front splitter first.

Which suits a VA WRX better, the UCW wing or the Verus ducktail?

The ducktail is the low-drag choice, which Verus Engineering recommends for WRX owners on factory power, where the drag of a full wing can cost lap time. The UCW is the larger step in rear downforce for cars with built front aero, and Verus pairs the two for a significant gain at the rear.

How soon does a UCW wing ship for the WRX?

Each UCW wing is built to order by Verus Engineering and leaves within 5 business days of the order, unless otherwise stated. The kit arrives with the carbon element, machined uprights and trunk mounts, endplates, load transfer hardware, a drill template and tape, ready to install.

Description

Verus Engineering UCW Rear Wing Kit for VA Subaru WRX

Verus Engineering’s UCW Rear Wing Kit for VA Subaru WRX fills the gap between the Verus swan neck high-efficiency wing and its 300mm V1X airfoil, giving the 2015 to 2021 WRX a carbon element with a 250mm curved chord. Verus says it makes more downforce than the high-efficiency wing and rates the assembly beyond 500 lb. Verus aims it at the track WRX with a substantial front aero package; on a car with a bare nose it would tip the balance toward the rear.

Design and Testing

Verus optimized the airfoil inside the V1X build volume with the ANSYS adjoint solver, then used CFD to place it in clean air above the VA trunk, and track testing matched the simulations closely. Its angle of attack runs from 0 to 15 degrees, and Verus uses it as the rear of the Ventus 3 package.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
