Does the Hood Louver Kit for G80 mean cutting my hood?

Yes. The Hood Louver Kit for G80 fits into two openings cut in the factory hood, marked out with the paper templates Verus Engineering supplies for each side. The louvers then bond in with pre-cut 3M VHB tape. Verus positioned them to remove minimal under-hood structure and states that the hood retains its structural integrity.

Will the louvers work with the factory grilles?

Yes. Verus Engineering designed the louvers to enhance the function of the factory front grilles on the M3 and M4. The grilles feed air into the engine bay, and the louvers, placed by CFD in a low-pressure area of the hood, give that hot air a path out, which improves the efficiency of the cooling stack.

Do hood louvers help with heat soak on a turbocharged M3 or M4?

Yes. Venting hot air from the engine bay is how the louvers combat heat soak, and Verus Engineering reports from CFD and on-track testing that they dramatically reduced under-hood temperatures. Cooler air around the engine also helps heat-sensitive components last longer.

How do the louvers affect front downforce?

Pressure building in the engine bay pushes up on the underside of the hood and acts as lift. By releasing that air through a low-pressure area of the hood, the louvers remove part of the upward force, which Verus Engineering says increases front-end downforce and improves the aero balance of the car on track.

What is in the M3 and M4 louver kit?

The kit holds a driver side and a passenger side carbon hood louver, two paper cut templates and a 3M VHB tape kit cut to the louver shape. The louvers are pre-preg 2x2 twill carbon, autoclave cured, and Verus Engineering covers the install with a packet, a manual and a video.

Description

Verus Engineering Carbon Hood Louver Kit for G80 BMW M3 and G82 M4

Verus Engineering’s Carbon Hood Louver Kit for G80 BMW M3 and G82 M4 sets a pair of carbon vents, one each side, into the factory hood to draw heat and pressure out of the engine bay. Verus points to heat as the limit on modern turbocharged cars, placed the louvers by CFD in a low-pressure region and designed them to work with the factory front grilles; its CFD and on-track data showed a dramatic drop in under-hood temperature and better aero balance. An M3 or M4 that runs long sessions stands to gain the most.

Installation

Each louver sits in an opening cut into the factory hood with the paper template supplied for that side, then bonds in place with 3M VHB double-sided tape cut to its shape. The positions were picked to take out as little under-hood structure as possible, and Verus says the factory hood stays structurally sound.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
