Which pump should I choose?

Both Kinsler pumps cost the same. T1 Race Development recommends the TP900 for ethanol and the TP1300 for methanol. The TP900 needs at least a -12AN feed line from the tank or cell, and the TP1300 needs at least -16AN.

Why is the pump at the back of the car?

Mechanical pumps want fuel fed to them by pressure or gravity. A pump at the front pulling from a rear tank sees a long, restricted inlet and can cavitate, so T1 drives the pump through a cable and mounts it beside the tank.

Do I need to send my bellhousing?

The kit needs a modified bellhousing. The modification is included when you send your own bellhousing to T1 Race Development. To keep the car together, choose the option where T1 supplies a new OE Nissan bellhousing, which adds 2,211 dollars.

How much fuel does it flow?

T1 Race Development quotes 2,486 lph for the TP900 and 3,528 lph for the TP1300 at 9,000 engine rpm. For comparison, T1 lists a Walbro 485 at 248 lph at 90 psi and 12.5 V, so the TP900 is close to ten of those pumps and the TP1300 close to fourteen.

T1 Race Development’s GT1R Cable Driven Mechanical Fuel Pump Kit for R35 Nissan GT-R replaces a stack of electric pumps with a single Kinsler Tough Pump 2, driven off the engine by a cable so the pump can live at the back of the car next to the fuel supply.

Why Mechanical

Electric setups on ethanol run out of headroom at about 1,850 whp, according to T1. A mechanical fuel pump kit flows in proportion to engine speed, and its flow does not fall away as fuel pressure rises, which matters on methanol where high base pressure is needed.

How the Kit Works

T1 fits a custom drive pulley to a modified OE bellhousing, which turns a cable pulley on a CNC bracket. The cable runs to the rear, where the pump is mounted close to the tank and gravity fed, so no electric priming pump is needed. Custom cable lengths are available.
