Does the SMG version fit the Z3 M and Z4 M?

No. The SMG version is for SMG-equipped E46 M3s only, because the SMG reservoir and bracket it adds are specific to that car. Owners of the Z3 M and Z4 M, and of 6MT E46 M3s, take the 6MT version, which covers all three chassis.

Is a tune required after fitting the kit?

Yes. The kit converts the S54 from MAF to IAT air measurement, so matching engine calibration is required for the engine to run correctly. The hardware handles the physical conversion; the calibration tells the DME how to read it. Budget for tuning alongside the kit and airbox.

IND’s CSL Airbox Installation Kit for E46 BMW M3, Z3 M and Z4 M supplies the supporting parts a CSL carbon airbox needs to run correctly on the S54. The CSL intake measures incoming air differently from the standard system, so the conversion depends on the genuine BMW M3 CSL IAT sensor and Alpha N MAF-to-IAT conversion harness included here, alongside the OEM CSL air shut-off valve and crankcase vent hose. SMG-equipped E46 M3s take the SMG version, which adds the OEM reservoir and bracket. Assembled by IND Distribution from genuine BMW and Alpha N components, it puts every piece of the conversion in one box instead of five separate orders.

After installing the CSL-Specific Shortened Oil Dipstick, we recommend keeping the stock unit and rotating it about 180 degrees so it clears the airbox
For 2005+ M3 and Z4 M, you will need to create a custom crankcase vent hose by cutting your OE hose and fastening with silicone hose, or delete the additional crankcase breather valve when using the CSL crankcase vent hose

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance.
