Moshammer Ducktail Evo I for 992 Porsche 911

Moshammer Ducktail Evo I is where the Berlin firm’s 992 ducktail programme began, and its stepped, swan tail profile remains the most sculptural of the family. The ram air ducts are larger than those fitted to the 992 Turbo S, feeding more air over the intercoolers and into the engine compartment, so the shape earns its place thermally as well as visually. Fitting it means retiring the electrically extending rear spoiler: the mechanism is disassembled, the ducktail mounts at the original points and the rear deck becomes permanently fixed. Owners with the factory aero kit and fixed rear wing have the easiest path, since the wing and its mounts are simply replaced and no coding is required at all. Supplied with a TUV parts certificate (§19.3) and built to order in small batches, it is the most distinctive way into a family of parts that defined the modern ducktail.

Stepped Swan Tail

Evo I is the boldest silhouette Moshammer draws for the 992, a stepped form the company likens to a swan’s tail rather than a smooth ducktail curve. It gives the rear of the car a defined shoulder and a genuine sense of intent, which is why owners who want the modification recognised choose this one over the later, more integrated designs. It is personalisation with a clear point of view, not a hedge.

Ram Air Cooling

The ducts are deliberately oversized, larger than the intakes on the 992 Turbo S, and they exist to move air rather than to suggest movement. More air reaches the intercoolers and more air circulates through the engine compartment, which has a positive effect on overall temperature and supports engine performance under load. On a fixed spoiler design, that airflow is what makes the trade worthwhile.

Coding and Installation

This ducktail replaces the original electrically extending rear spoiler, so the mechanism is disassembled and the automatic lift function has to be coded to the fixed rear spoiler setting, exactly as the factory does for aero kit cars with the fixed wing. If coding access is a problem, Moshammer’s Active Aero Emulator is a plug in module that deactivates the lift function and suppresses warning messages without PIWIS. On cars that already have the factory aero kit and fixed rear wing, the wing and mounts simply come off, the ducktail goes on and no coding is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to the electric rear spoiler? It goes away. The ducktail replaces it, the mechanism is disassembled and the rear deck becomes a fixed aerodynamic surface with the lift function deactivated.
Do I need coding? On standard cars, yes. The lift function must be coded to the fixed rear spoiler setting, the same configuration the factory uses for aero kit cars. Cars that already have the aero kit fixed wing need no coding at all.
What if my workshop cannot code the car? Moshammer offers the Active Aero Emulator, a plug in module that deactivates the automatic lift function and prevents warning messages without requiring PIWIS access.
How do the ducts compare with the Turbo S? They are larger. Moshammer sized them above the 992 Turbo S intakes specifically to increase the volume of air reaching the intercoolers and circulating through the engine compartment.
Does the third brake light still function? Yes. The original top mounted third brake light stays in place and continues to operate normally, so the car keeps its full complement of lighting.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest.
