What's the difference between the standard AT-M3 and the HD Edition?

The HD Edition adds the high-downforce gurney flap and larger, inward-angled endplates from the start, producing more downforce and more drag than the standard AT-M3.

What is the ADRO G87 M2 HD Edition AT-M3 wing made from?

The mainplane, endplates, and gurney flap are autoclave-cured prepreg carbon fiber; the uprights are aluminum. Prepreg construction keeps the resin-to-fiber ratio consistent, which a wet layup can't match.

Can the wing angle be adjusted after it's installed?

Yes. It has eight degrees of adjustment, so you can run the full downforce gain or dial some back for less drag and more top speed depending on the track.

Does the gurney flap actually make a measurable difference?

Yes. It's a small tab at the trailing edge that changes how air rolls off the wing, effectively making the mainplane behave as though it's more curved, which is where the added downforce comes from without changing the mainplane itself.

Is this a bolt-on installation?

Yes. All mounting hardware and 3M tape for the gurney are included, and the wing is designed to integrate with the factory decklid mounting points.

Description

ADRO Carbon AT-M3 Motorsport Wing (HD edition) for G87 BMW M2

The G87 M2 HD Edition AT-M3 Motorsport Wing from ADRO exists because the G87 M2 goes light at the rear exactly when you’re asking the most of it, deep into a fast corner or hard on the brakes at the end of a straight. This is the wing in its most capable form; the HD Edition arrives with the high-downforce gurney flap and the larger, inward-angled HD endplates already fitted, rather than something you add after the fact once you realize the base setup isn’t enough for a track day. The numbers are specific for a reason; roughly 192N (43.2lbs) of additional downforce for about 35N (7.9lbs) of drag at 180km/h (112mph), on top of what the standard AT-M3 already produces, measured at a fixed wing angle. Every component, mainplane, gurney, and endplates, is autoclave-cured prepreg carbon fiber, the same process ADRO runs across its lineup, which holds the resin-to-fiber ratio tight and keeps the wing from flexing its angle of attack away under sustained load, unlike a wet-layup part that can soften exactly when you’re leaning on it hardest. The gurney sits along the mainplane on 3M tape and picks up at each endplate; all mounting hardware ships with it. If the M2 is going to see real seat time on a track surface, this is the version to spec from day one, not the one you upgrade into later.

What the Gurney Flap Actually Does

A gurney flap is a small tab standing up at the trailing edge of the wing, and its effect on downforce is out of proportion to its size. Air stacks up against it and rolls off the back edge into a pair of trailing vortices that sit just behind the wing, working like an invisible extension of the wing’s shape. The wing ends up behaving as though its profile were more curved than it physically is, which is the entire mechanism behind the gain; a small piece of geometry changes what the airflow reads as the wing’s shape, and it does it efficiently. The HD endplates are solving a separate problem. Air at the tips of any wing tries to spill from the high-pressure side to the low-pressure side, and every bit that escapes is downforce that never gets used. The HD endplates are larger than the standard AT-M3 units and angle inward at the lower edge instead of sitting flat, sealing more of the wing’s span so that pressure difference stays where it’s doing work. They also pick up the outer ends of the gurney flap, so the mainplane, gurney, and endplates function as one assembly, and on the G87 M2 HD Edition AT-M3 that assembly ships as a single fitted unit from the start.

Dialing In the Extra Downforce

How much of that gain you actually run is up to the driver. The G87 M2 HD Edition AT-M3 gives eight degrees of angle adjustment, so you can take the full downforce number as built, or back the angle off to trade some of it for lower drag and more top-end speed, matching the wing to the track you’re running, the rest of the car’s setup, and how you actually drive it.

Verified by Simulation

ADRO develops this wing digitally before it’s ever cut, running CFD simulation and iterative testing to pin down drag and downforce numbers rather than shaping a part by eye. That process, backed by a team with an aerospace and Formula 1 aerodynamics background, is why the HD Edition’s stated downforce and drag figures are measured, not estimated, and why the prepreg carbon construction holds its geometry instead of flexing away performance under load.

Not For Everybody

ADRO builds for drivers who expect more from a part than it looking good in photos. The engineering and craftsmanship behind each piece are aimed at people who care how a wing actually performs, not just how it sits on the car; the same development work driving that standard is what makes parts like the G87 M2 HD Edition AT-M3 measurably better, not just different.

About ADRO

ADRO is a carbon fiber and aerodynamics manufacturer built around a background in aerospace and Formula 1 engineering. Rather than shaping parts by eye, the company develops each design digitally first, using 3D scanning and surface modeling, then validates it through computational fluid dynamics simulation before it ever becomes a physical piece. Production runs through a seven-stage process using prepreg carbon fiber and other composite materials, chosen for how they perform under load rather than just for weight savings. That combination of simulation-driven design and motorsport-grade manufacturing is what ADRO applies across its lineup, from aerodynamic components to full styling packages, for drivers who want parts that are engineered first and styled second.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
