SOUL Performance Competition X-Pipe Exhaust System for 997.1 Porsche 911 Turbo

The SOUL Performance 997.1 Turbo exhaust lets the true character of the twin-turbo flat-six be heard with an aggressive yet refined sound to match its performance. A proprietary X-pipe design, 3-inch piping, and quad race resonators encourage maximum power gains and an exhilarating increase in engine note and turbo wail, while Helmholtz resonators target and reduce droning for a more refined cabin experience. The system weighs approximately 16.2lbs less than the factory exhaust components (28.8lbs vs 45lbs factory). Direct bolt-on installation with instructions included. Backed by the SOUL Performance Lifetime Warranty.

Development and Testing

SOUL wanted to get as aggressive as possible while minimizing drone: greater volume with a greater amount of pops and burbles on deceleration. Supporting high power was another consideration, necessitating 3-inch tubing. SOUL experimented with adding a mixing chamber into the X-pipe design; analysis in 3D CAD software showed a general increase in velocity downstream of the mixing chamber across a band of measured pressure and temperature levels. This produces optimal flow characteristics, reduced backpressure for higher horsepower, and enhanced sound quality. Helmholtz resonators were engineered to target and reduce droning in the 2,000-3,000 RPM range, while quad race resonators make a discernible difference in reducing drone and encouraging a more refined exhaust note.

Sound

Expect a chorus of crackles upon letting off the throttle. The exhaust makes itself known in the cabin without being overly aggressive.

Construction

Each system is built from mandrel-bent T304L 3-inch, 0.065-inch wall stainless steel tubing, straight-through race resonators with a full metal packing design for maximum durability, and laser-cut brackets for perfect fitment. Choose from several hand-finished tip options or reuse your factory tips.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance.
