SOUL Performance Products Porsche 997.1 Carrera Valved Exhaust is engineered to deliver two distinct personalities in one system, with a sporty OEM-plus tone when the valves are closed and a Cup-inspired, straight-through sound when the valves are opened. In this configuration, the system is set up for Non-PSE cars and reuses the OEM exhaust tips for a clean factory appearance, while the default startup orientation keeps the valves closed for a more refined warm-up. Valve operation can be controlled using the included remotes or integrated with the factory HomeLink buttons. Developed using SOUL’s proven drone-fighting muffler principles, valves-closed cruising is designed to remain drone-free even with aftermarket catalytic converters, while valves-open mode is intentionally loud due to its free-flowing design. The system weighs 2lb (0.9kg) less than the factory exhaust (36.6lb vs 38.6lb), and is built in-house in Willow Grove, PA from mandrel-bent 0.060-inch wall T304L stainless tubing with bespoke SOUL mufflers and laser-cut brackets, with fixture testing, in-house quality checks, and foam packing prior to shipping. It is backed by SOUL Performance’s Lifetime Warranty for street and track use.

Development

• SOUL Performance set out to design a valved exhaust that transitions from relaxed cruising to track-day aggression at the press of a button, with the default startup configuration keeping the valves closed for a more refined experience. Building on the proven drone-fighting effectiveness of the mufflers used in SOUL Performance 987/981 exhaust systems, the same design principles were applied to a bespoke muffler engineered specifically for the 997 Carrera.

Sound

• SOUL Performance routes exhaust gases through bespoke mufflers to deliver a sophisticated, sporty tone that remains unmistakably Porsche with the valves closed, which is the default operating mode. With the valves open, the system shifts to a Cup-inspired straight-through sound. During cruising with the valves closed, the design is engineered to remain drone-free, even with aftermarket catalytic converters. Because the valves-open mode is highly aggressive and free-flowing, overall volume can be very loud when paired with aftermarket catalytic converters or free flow replacement pipes.

Construction

• Each system is made in-house by SOUL Performance’s fabrication team using mandrel-bent 0.060-inch wall T304L stainless steel tubing, bespoke SOUL mufflers, and laser-cut brackets, with well over 15 labor hours invested in every set to ensure it meets SOUL Performance standards.

Bolt on and Go

• Each exhaust is built and tested by SOUL Performance in a thick-gauge aluminum fixture to help prevent warping and confirm precise fitment. Every set is rigorously quality-checked prior to shipping and then foam packed to help ensure it arrives in perfect condition.
