SOUL Performance Competition Headers for 982 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 and Cayman GT4 / Spyder / GTS 4.0

SOUL Performance Products designs its Competition Headers for the Porsche 718 4.0L platform to replace the heavy, restrictive factory manifolds and pipes with a freer-flowing, track-focused layout that delivers stronger response and a more aggressive exhaust note. Developed for 2020+ 718 GT4, Spyder, and GTS 4.0L models (excluding Clubsport), these headers install as a direct bolt-on upgrade and reduce weight by 7.25lb / 3.2kg versus OEM components (18.45lb vs 25.7lb). They feature smooth-radius, large-diameter primaries and a performance-oriented collector with merge spikes to improve flow, and each set is assembled in-house in the USA from mandrel-bent, thick-wall 0.065 in T304L stainless steel with durable back-purged TIG welds. Every set is quality-checked and foam packed, and includes new high-grade hardware and OEM three-bolt gaskets.

Development and Testing

SOUL Performance explains that the factory headers are engineered to be inexpensive and simple to produce while meeting restrictive emissions requirements, which can limit performance. The OEM setup typically relies on pressed flanges, flattened primary tubing, generic collectors, and large catalytic converters, reducing both sound and output. By refining the transition from the flange to the primaries, using smooth-radius large-diameter bends, and incorporating a performance-oriented collector with merge spikes, SOUL Performance achieves improved flow, quicker response, and stronger performance, paired with a more aggressive exhaust note to match.

Construction

SOUL Performance assembles each set in-house in the USA from mandrel-bent, thick-wall 0.065″ T304L stainless steel. Back-purged TIG welding using ARCAL Prime argon gas is used to ensure proper weld penetration and long-term durability, especially for track use. Cast head flanges provide a smooth transition from the exhaust ports into the runners, while water-jet cut exhaust flanges are produced to ISO 9001:2015 standards with +/- 0.003-inch tolerances for exceptional precision. During fabrication, SOUL Performance uses thick-gauge aluminum fixtures that act as heat sinks during welding and help prevent warping in both the headers and the fixtures, supporting consistent, precise fitment.

Bolt On and Go

Each SOUL Performance product is test-fit in a dedicated fixture to verify precise fitment, then foam packed to help ensure it arrives in perfect condition. Detailed installation instructions are included for a straightforward install that most DIY enthusiasts can complete. New high-grade hardware is provided for the header-to-exhaust flanges.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do.
