SOUL Performance Valved Exhaust System with Tips for 987.2 Porsche Boxster / Cayman

The SOUL Performance Products Valved Exhaust System for the Porsche 987.2 Cayman and Boxster  is engineered to deliver a true night-and-day change in character at the press of a button. With the valves closed, exhaust gases are routed through SOUL’s mufflers for a refined, sporty tone with minimal drone at highway speeds (with stock headers) and the ability to cruise quietly when needed. Open the valves and the system shifts to a louder, more engaging flat-six sound that’s built for spirited driving and track use. Developed and tested on SOUL’s own 987.2 Cayman S, the system has proven gains of up to 8 whp and 11 ft-lbs at 4,100rpm when paired with SOUL Long Tube Street Headers. Construction features mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel tubing with 2.5-inch OD over-axle pipes, fortified-case mufflers packed with durable sound-deadening material, and reinforced brackets to help prevent the hanger and support failures common on these platforms. It installs as a direct bolt-on, weighs about 5 lbs less than the factory exhaust, and includes a valve controller kit (required for non-PSE cars and optional for PSE cars for manual valve override). Each system is fixture-tested for fitment, foam packed for safe delivery, supplied with new high-grade hardware and installation instructions, and backed by SOUL’s Lifetime Warranty for both street and track use.

Development

• Porsche equips the 987.2 Cayman and Boxster with a restrictive, bulky exhaust system that mutes the platform’s natural power and flat-six character. SOUL Performance developed its Valved Exhaust System on its own Project 987.2 Cayman S to ensure the difference between valve modes is both noticeable and refined, even when paired with aftermarket headers. During Dynojet testing, SOUL recorded peak gains of 8 whp and 11 ft-lbs of torque at 4,100 RPM when combined with SOUL Long Tube Street Headers on the project Cayman S. The system is currently used on SOUL’s daily-driven Cayman S and is consistently track tested on the Project Cayman R. Because aftermarket Boxster and Cayman exhaust hangers and supports are often prone to cracking or failure, SOUL’s fortified brackets are designed to help prevent damage during extended street driving and track days.

Construction

• Each SOUL Performance system is constructed from mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel tubing, including 2.5-inch OD over-axle pipes, and uses mufflers with fortified casings for long-term durability. With the valves closed, exhaust gases are routed through the SOUL muffler, which is packed with high-quality sound-deadening material engineered to withstand abuse and resist blowout over time, while effectively minimizing drone. In this mode, gases pass through the muffler and exit through perforations into the outer piping. With the valves open, exhaust gases are free to exit through large 2.5-inch piping, while the perforations allow the flow to interact with the muffler to produce a fuller, more robust tone. SOUL offers a variety of 321 stainless exhaust tips in multiple styles and finishes, with custom options available upon request, and titanium single-wall tips are also offered to save nearly a pound compared to stainless steel tips.

New high-grade hardware is included for the header-to-exhaust flanges, and detailed installation instructions are provided for a straightforward install that most DIY enthusiasts can complete.
