What does the Fabspeed XperTune Performance Software do?

The Fabspeed XperTune Performance Software is a custom bench-flashed ECU calibration for the 720S's M840T 4.0L twin-turbo V8. It recalibrates the engine for a maximum curve gain of up to 79 whp and 113 ft-lbs, lifting peak output from around 689 to 782 whp, while sharpening response and keeping factory drivability.

Does it fit the 720S Coupe and Spider?

Yes. It fits the McLaren 720S from 2018 to 2023 in both coupe and Spider form, all with the M840T 4.0L twin-turbo V8. The same calibration suits either body style, and Fabspeed offers maps for stock and exhaust-equipped cars.

How is it installed, and do I send in my ECU?

Yes. This is a mail-in bench flash: you ship Fabspeed your ECU with the completed information form, they recalibrate it on the bench within 24 to 48 hours, and you reinstall the returned unit. No modifications to the car and no handheld tuner are involved.

Is the tune reversible?

Yes. Fabspeed stores your factory settings and can flash the ECU back to stock for a small fee, so the car can be returned to its original calibration later if you service or sell it.

How much power does it add?

Fabspeed recorded a maximum curve gain of up to 79 whp and 113 ft-lbs at 3,700 rpm, with peak output rising from roughly 689 to 782 whp. Figures come from a test vehicle at ambient conditions and vary with fuel, condition, and supporting modifications.

Can I run it with a Fabspeed exhaust, and is it street legal?

Yes, Fabspeed offers maps for both stock cars and cars running upgraded exhaust hardware, with the largest gains on modified cars. It is not CARB approved and not EPA certified, so check your local emissions and enforcement rules before ordering.

Notes

The purchaser is responsible for covering the shipping expenses when sending an ECU to Fabspeed. Once received, Fabspeed will tune the ECU within 24-48 hours and return it using the same shipping method chosen by the purchaser during the initial shipment. For instance, if you sent the ECU via ground shipping, it will be returned using ground shipping, and if overnight shipping was used, the ECU will be shipped back via overnight as well.
This is not a physical/shipped product. This upgrade requires you to send us your ECU for re-programming. You will be emailed a download link with detailed instructions after adding this to your cart and checking out
While a vehicle equipped with bolt-on upgrades will experience maximum gains as a result of the increased efficiency of the engine, great power gains can be made on a completely stock vehicle
You must fill out and include a copy of the ECU Information form along with your ECU upon sending it in. Please contact us if you need to send the form in any other manner
Fabspeed Motorsport saves your stock/factory ECU settings so that we can convert or flash your ECU back to stock settings at any time for a small fee
Special requests and tune file upgrades may be subject to additional fees

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
