Initially launched in 2016 with a lightweight Tube & Fin core, this intercooler kit has demonstrated its reliability in high-performance applications, including 1000hp builds. In 2021, do88 upgraded the design to include a motorsport-grade Bar & Plate core from Garrett, further improving cooling and airflow efficiency. When combined with the do88 Y-pipe, the kit significantly reduces inlet temperatures and backpressure, allowing for greater power output. This intercooler kit is an advanced solution for enthusiasts seeking maximum durability and performance.

Improvements

The do88 intercoolers for the 997.2 Porsche 911 deliver a significant 51.8°F reduction in IAT and a 19% increase in airflow compared to the previous version. Designed with cast end tanks for precise airflow distribution and 70mm connections paired with CFD-tested hoses, the intercoolers optimize cooling efficiency while minimizing pressure drop. The kit includes a lightweight air duct made from real prepreg carbon, featuring proper seals to maximize ambient air usage, and a 3D-scanned upper ambient air guide to ensure a perfect fit with the vehicle’s integrated components. High-temperature hoses, rated to 464°F, enhance durability and airflow performance.
Weighing 18.10lbs per piece compared to the OEM’s 7.27lbs, the all-aluminum construction compensates for the slight weight increase with substantial performance benefits. The dense, motorsport-grade design ensures exceptional cooling and airflow, making these intercoolers an essential upgrade for high-performance 997.2 Porsche 911 applications.

Y-Pipe

The do88 Y-pipe is the result of extensive research, design, and testing, offering exceptional airflow and minimal weight for high-performance applications. Constructed from mandrel-bent lightweight pipes with a precision 3D freeform-designed cast joint, it features NC-machined connections for the BOV and breather hoses. Despite its robust design, the Y-pipe weighs only 3.35lbs compared to the OEM’s 3.04lbs, delivering significant performance gains with minimal weight increase. Finished with a high-quality powder coat, the do88 Y-pipe combines functionality and aesthetics, making it an ideal upgrade for reducing system restrictions and achieving greater power.

Performance

The do88 Big Pack delivers a substantial reduction in intake temperature, showcasing its superior performance compared to OEM 997.2 components. Data presented in the accompanying graph was collected using an AIM race logger during five consecutive full-throttle runs, performed back-to-back without cooldown periods. The tests involved accelerations from 30 to 155 mph in a Stage 1 tuned Porsche 997, with the car set to Sport Plus mode and AC turned off, ensuring consistent conditions for accurate results.

Testing

Five test runs were conducted with the car equipped with OEM intercoolers, followed by a quick swap to do88 intercoolers. After a brief shakedown, another five runs were completed under identical conditions. The results revealed a significant decrease in inlet air temperature, with a peak delta of 32.4°F. Cooling and airflow were prioritized throughout the development process, with extensive refinement of the end tanks and a carefully selected core to ensure superior heat transfer and airflow efficiency. Using the in-house Superflow SF-1020 Probench, airflow performance was verified as a complete system, including the intercoolers, hoses, and Y-pipe, for both the do88 Big Pack and OEM 997 units, demonstrating true, measurable performance gains.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest.
