CSF introduces its high-performance G8X M3/M4 Heat Exchanger, designed for both 6MT and ZF8 transmissions, after over a year of development and testing. Collaborating with race teams like Studio RSR and Art of Attack, CSF identified heat soak issues in modified S58 engines, leading to elevated intake air temperatures (IATs) and power loss. The new heat exchanger addresses these challenges, providing optimal cooling for daily driving, track events, and high-performance builds.

How it Works

CSF’s expertise in high-performance BMW cooling systems enabled its engineers to quickly pinpoint the S58 engine’s cooling limitations. Similar to the B58 engine found in the A90 Supra and G-Series BMW 40i models, the S58 features a liquid-to-air charge cooler manifold paired with a front mount heat exchanger. The heat exchanger cools the fluid cycling through the charge cooler, effectively dissipating heat from the system. While CSF offers a high-performance billet charge-air manifold for the S58 engine, the front mount heat exchanger remains the most cost-effective solution for reducing charge-air temperatures. As a critical component in the cooling system, the heat exchanger provides a significant performance boost and is now recommended as an essential bolt-on upgrade for the platform.

Design, Development, and Testing

CSF’s new High-Performance Front Mount Heat Exchanger has undergone extensive testing, including over 100 track hours and thousands of road miles, ensuring its reliability and effectiveness. Featuring a 2-row, 42mm-thick core with CSF’s exclusive B-Tube Technology, this heat exchanger significantly increases system volume, enhancing heat absorption and dissipation. The upgraded core design also improves airflow to the radiator positioned behind the heat exchanger. For vehicles equipped with the ZF8 Automatic Transmission, the heat exchanger was developed alongside CSF’s Race-Spec Dual Core Transmission Oil Cooler for optimal compatibility. Additionally, the included black rock guards provide full protection for the heat exchanger, especially when paired with aftermarket open-face race-style grilles, which are popular for their performance and aesthetics. These guards help shield the heat exchanger from debris, ensuring durability in high-performance applications.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest.
