The AWE Tuning 3.0T Touring Edition Exhaust for the B8.5 Audi S4 is a downpipe-back system designed to refine the S4’s V6 character while improving exhaust flow. It uses straight-through mufflers paired with AWE’s 180 Technology® drone-canceling resonators to provide a full-bodied, balanced tone under acceleration without introducing unwanted cabin drone at highway speeds. Constructed from CNC mandrel-bent, U.S.-sourced T304 stainless steel, the system retains all factory mounting points for a direct-fit installation. Outfitted with 102mm diamond black tips, it integrates cleanly with the rear valance, preserving throttle response and engine character while offering subtle performance gains and a more controlled, refined exhaust note.

Touring Edition Exhaust

• The Touring Edition Exhaust combines performance and refinement with a 3” T304L stainless steel downpipe-back layout. Its straight-through design delivers a deep, controlled K20 exhaust note without highway drone, featuring an integrated frontpipe, custom midpipe resonator, and AWE’s patented 180 Technology® drone-canceling system. Under boost or heavy throttle, the exhaust is lively and aggressive, while the cabin remains quiet during cruising. Exhaust gases pass through 180 Technology-equipped resonators, where sound waves travel through precisely positioned ports into reflection chambers; the resulting waves rejoin the main flow 180 degrees out of phase, canceling unwanted frequencies while preserving full power. What is 180 Technology?

• AWE Tuning’s patented 180 Technology® channels exhaust gases through a resonator equipped with carefully positioned ports and reflection chambers, where the sound waves interact and reflect. The size and placement of these ports are precisely engineered to control when the reflected waves merge back into the main exhaust flow, creating a 180-degree out-of-phase wave that cancels unwanted frequencies. Each resonator is tailored to the specific acoustic profile of the vehicle rather than using a universal design, ensuring a consistent, balanced exhaust tone. The outcome is a clean, controlled sound that eliminates harsh or intrusive notes while preserving full performance, delivering the signature AWE exhaust character with clarity and power on every drive.

Exhaust Tips

• Each system comes with three 4.5” double-walled, slash-cut tips, available in Chrome Silver or Diamond Black, each stamped with the AWE logo. The tips are individually adjustable, letting you set how far they protrude from the bumper to suit your preference.

Nope, It’s Not Valved

• During development, AWE closely studied how the factory exhaust valve operates under various driving conditions. They determined that exhaust volume stays mostly consistent in modes where the valve is active. The valve remains closed only in Comfort mode, opening once a certain throttle threshold is reached. In Sport and Sport+ modes, it stays open, with Sport+ adding ECU-managed burble effects. In the stock configuration, exhaust is routed through the side mufflers when the valve is closed to reduce cabin noise and limit drone-prone frequencies, while opening the valve directs flow through the center section.
