Construction

• Each system is meticulously crafted in the USA using mandrel bent, thick-wall .065″ T304L stainless steel. Soul Performance Products utilizes billet 304L stainless steel for the head flanges and merge collector, employing precise cutting techniques on a 5-axis CNC machine. This ensures optimal exhaust flow and exceptional strength. The welding process involves back purged TIG welding with ARCAL Prime argon gas, guaranteeing proper weld penetration and long-lasting durability, particularly crucial for demanding track use. To ensure perfect fitment, the headers and system are fabricated using thick gauge aluminum fixtures, which not only act as efficient heat sinks during welding but also prevent warping of both the products and the fixtures themselves. This meticulous approach guarantees a high-quality product with superior fit and performance.

Headers

• The key to enhancing performance lies in replacing the factory headers, which are known for their weight and restrictions. By opting for a complete system replacement, Soul Performance Products can eliminate the limitations imposed by the factory catalytic assemblies, the “particulate filters,” and the cumbersome 7-⅝ connection point to the factory rear muffler assembly. To achieve this, a straightforward flange optimization technique is employed on the previous generation GT3 Competition Headers, allowing for the removal of the factory 991 generation connection point. This eliminates the need for expensive OEM clamps and donut gaskets, while also facilitating the use of a more efficient v-band connection point. This optimized design results in improved exhaust flow and overall performance.
• Even an engineering masterpiece like the GT3 from Porsche is equipped with exhaust manifolds that have certain restrictions in terms of primary tubing length, runner diameter, and merge collection efficiency. These limitations are primarily due to the presence of dense catalytic converters, mass production considerations, and compromises made for emissions and sound restrictions. To overcome these constraints, Soul Performance Products has focused on refining the interface between the flange and primary tubes, employing smooth radius large diameter bends, and implementing performance-oriented collectors with merge spikes. This meticulous approach has resulted in increased exhaust flow, improved response, enhanced overall performance, and a more aggressive exhaust note to match. Rather than opting for a slip-on merge collector that may risk exhaust leaks, Soul Performance Products has dedicated their efforts to designing a high-flow collector using advanced CAD and CNC technologies. This bespoke billet collector allows for optimized runner length and reduces the need for multiple welds, prioritizing durability. Furthermore, the billet CNC head flanges enable a more efficient transition from the exhaust ports into the runners while adding extra strength in a high-stress area, effectively minimizing the chances of cracking during repeated and demanding track use.

Rear Exhaust Section

• Due to the restricted space underneath the vehicle, Soul Performance Products faced the challenge of devising an intricate solution that involved looping the exhaust to maintain proper alignment of the catalytic converters after the headers. This design choice was made to optimize exhaust velocity. To achieve their goal of minimizing drone levels and creating a captivating touring-level sound with reduced cabin presence, the inclusion of a muffler proved to be the most effective approach. The muffler effectively mitigates drone frequencies below 3,000 rpm, striking a balance between an exhilarating sound experience and a comfortable touring ambiance.
• When the valves are open, the exhaust is able to freely flow through 3″ piping and an x-pipe, merging the exhaust flow to create a higher pitched and smooth sound with optimal flow characteristics. Conversely, when the valves are closed, the exhaust is directed through secondary flow path piping and a specially designed SOUL muffler. The internal design of the muffler minimizes flow restriction, utilizing straight-through perforated piping that allows the exhaust gases to escape and become muffled within the surrounding packing material of the muffler body. Additionally, the muffler features an internal x-pipe that facilitates a seamless merging of the exhaust flow. These characteristics play a crucial role in reducing and smoothing out drone frequencies in the sub 3,000rpm range, while simultaneously enhancing the desired higher pitched note in both the valves closed and open conditions, as intended by Soul Performance Products.
• Apart from the unique design of the bespoke muffler, this system incorporates several other distinctive characteristics related to the secondary flow path that enters the muffler. It is important to note that the flow path when the valves are open is not solely restricted to the external x-pipe flow path; some of the exhaust flow still passes through the secondary flow path even with the valves open. This design effectively utilizes the entire secondary flow path and the muffler design to achieve a smoother tone and minimize drone even in valves open mode. By utilizing this secondary flow path for cruising cabin presence, the primary focus was placed on optimizing the design of the primary flow path when the valves are open, resulting in significant sound enhancement without the need for additional resonators or mufflers.
• The catted and catless sections of the exhaust system are designed to be interchangeable. This flexibility allows you to choose between different options based on your preferences and requirements. If you prefer to minimize the chance of triggering check engine lights, you can opt for the 200-cell catalytic converters, which also help to slightly tone down the exhaust sound. When the Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE) system is activated, you can rev the car with the valves open. However, as soon as you accelerate, the valves close, and this cycle repeats, maintaining the same functionality up to 4000rpm with progressive opening from 4-5000rpm. For those seeking complete valve control, allowing the valves to be fully open at wide-open throttle regardless of RPM, ECU tuning is available as an option to achieve this customization.
• The valves on this platform have undergone extensive research and development due to the sensitivity of their placement. Relocating or disconnecting these valves can result in check engine lights and performance-related complications. Unlike previous vacuum actuated OEM valves, the tension on the valve bodies is maintained by the actuators themselves.
