Eventuri Carbon V2 Intake System for G20 BMW M340i and G22 BMW M440i

The BMW G20 B58 Eventuri intake has been engineered to provide the turbo with a more efficient airflow while maintaining low inlet temperatures. Heat and volume are key factors when designing an intake for turbocharged engines. In the G20, the intake system is positioned near the exhaust manifold, leading to rapid heat soak in the engine bay. High temperatures can negatively impact engine performance, as the turbo would need to build boost with heated, less dense air. To prevent this, Eventuri designed a fully sealed intake system to keep intake air temperatures (IATs) low. However, this creates a restriction, as the stock setup only has one air feed. During development, Eventuri identified an additional opening into the wheel arch and incorporated a secondary air feed into their design. The sealed airbox also features a gold reflective heat shield to minimize radiant heat transfer from the exhaust manifold. To maximize airflow volume, Eventuri enlarged the airbox, including a recess for potential strut braces. The stock convoluted intake tube was replaced with a smooth carbon tube that has a larger internal volume, starting with a 111mm (4.4″) internal diameter that tapers down to match the turbo inlet. This smooth tube provides an unrestricted path from the filter to the turbo. Finally, Eventuri utilizes a custom high-flow dry filter, ISO tested for filtration efficiency, offering a larger filtration area than the stock filter.

Dual Feed Carbon Fiber Airbox

• Crafted from prepreg carbon fiber, the airbox is designed with two main objectives: to seal the filter from engine bay heat and to provide a dual cold air feed. Positioned near the exhaust manifold, it is essential for the filter to remain fully sealed. Eventuri designed the airbox to encapsulate the filter while offering a large internal volume. A laser-cut plate with a rubber sealing strip secures the intake tube to the airbox, preventing heated air from entering. Additionally, a heat shield with a gold reflective layer on the exhaust manifold side is included to further minimize heat soak and combat radiant heat transfer effectively.
• A fully sealed airbox can create a restriction for cold air intake. The stock airbox pulls air from a single duct extending to the front bumper area. During development, Eventuri identified an additional area for cold air intake—a gap between the wheel arch and the chassis where the airbox sits. To utilize this, they extended a scoop at the back of the design that protrudes into the wheel arch and is visible behind the front wheel after installation. This secondary feed allows the turbo to draw air from a larger area, reducing restriction and improving airflow.

Carbon Inlet Tube

• The G20 B58 OEM airbox system was updated in vehicles produced after November 2018, replacing the airflow sensor with a temperature sensor in the inlet tube. Before this update, all airbox systems used an airflow sensor. As a result, Eventuri offers two variations: the V1 intake, designed for vehicles with a MAF (airflow) sensor, and the V2 intake, for cars built after November 2018, which utilize a temperature sensor instead.
• The stock inlet tube has a flexible and convoluted section to provide movement with the engine. This however also adds the possibility of turbulence in the flow path as there are multiple faces which can cause eddies. They replace this with their carbon tube which is smooth and also has a larger internal volume. Unlike most aftermarket intakes they maximized the size of the intake tube, the OEM inlet tube has an internal diameter of 80.8mm or 3.2” at the filter end. The tube for cars built after November 2018 has an internal diameter of 109mm or 4.3”. This equates to a massive 82% increase in cross sectional area over stock. The tube smoothly tapers down to the stock turbo inlet to ensure airflow remains as laminar as possible. The tube also has CNC machined fitting for the temperature sensor and the breather adapter.

Bespoke Cone Filter

• Eventuri’s cone filter is crafted from a double-layered non-woven mesh material and ISO-tested to meet OEM filtration standards. It is cleanable and highly stable at elevated temperatures, with a urethane base for durability. The filter features an internal flow-guiding cone to help direct airflow and reduce the risk of stagnation in the center of the filter. Additionally, the filter medium provides a significantly larger surface area compared to the stock panel filter, enhancing overall airflow efficiency.
