What does TCM Flashing for P552 trucks change in the transmission?

It lets the Accessport load COBB transmission maps that adjust shift points, shift firmness, skip-shift behavior and torque limits. OEM+ is a refined step up from stock that keeps skip-shifting in Normal mode, Sport is the performance-first file, and Simulated Stock returns factory behavior taken from a 2019 to 2020 F-150 Limited.

Does this Accessport fit a 2020 F-150?

No. COBB lists AP3-FOR-006-TCM for the 2017 to 2019 F-150 with the 3.5L engine in the US market. From 2020 Ford combined the ECU and TCM into one unit that takes a single map covering both, so later trucks need a different Accessport. Check the model year before ordering.

Do I flash the engine and transmission maps together?

No. On 2017 to 2019 trucks the ECU and TCM are separate units, so you choose and flash a map for each one individually once transmission tuning is enabled. That makes it possible to run, for example, a Stage 1 engine map with the factory-style Simulated Stock transmission file, or any other pairing.

Is there a map for towing?

Yes. COBB includes Performance Tow engine maps for 91 and 93 octane. On 93 octane COBB measured 12.71 percent more peak horsepower and 10.13 percent more peak torque than stock. Paired with the OEM+ transmission file, it keeps shifting refined while adding pulling power, and the Stage maps remain available for unladen driving.

Is the TCM Flashing for P552 Accessport CARB legal?

Yes. COBB holds CARB Executive Order D-660-23 for TCM Flashing for P552 trucks, which permits sale and use on emissions controlled vehicles in all 50 states, California included. The Accessport must be used in accordance with the COBB application guide for the truck, which covers both the engine and transmission maps.

Description

COBB Tuning Accessport V3 with TCM Flashing for P552 Ford F-150 3.5L EcoBoost (2017-2019)

COBB Tuning’s Accessport V3 with TCM Flashing for P552 Ford F-150 3.5L EcoBoost trucks from 2017 to 2019 tunes the transmission controller as well as the engine computer, and CARB Executive Order D-660-23 makes it legal in all 50 states. On these model years the ECU and TCM are separate units, so the Accessport flashes each with its own map; Ford combined them from 2020. Choose this version if the factory shift schedule bothers you as much as the power does.

Transmission Maps

TCM Flashing for P552 trucks brings three files. Simulated Stock is the factory transmission calibration from a 2019 to 2020 F-150 Limited. OEM+ keeps skip-shifting in Normal mode, moderately raises shift points, quickens downshifts, firms up high-power shifts and raises torque limits for harder launches. COBB Sport removes skip-shifting in Normal apart from light-throttle 1-3 shifts, raises shift points further and firms shifts from moderate power upward.

Engine Calibration

COBB measured peak gains against stock of 15.65 percent horsepower and 20.65 percent torque for Stage 1 on 93 octane, and 18.01 and 23.79 percent for Stage 2 on 93 octane. The Performance Tow map on 93 octane shows 12.71 percent peak horsepower and 10.13 percent peak torque. Results vary.

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
