Does the COBB Tuning Titanium Cat-Back Exhaust for GV/VA fit both the WRX and the STI?

Yes. COBB confirms the Titanium Cat-Back Exhaust for GV/VA on the 2011 to 2014 Impreza WRX and WRX STI sedans and the 2015 to 2021 WRX and WRX STI sedans, including the 2018 STI Type RA and 2019 STI S209. The GR hatchback needs a different system.

Do I need an Accessport or a tune after installing this exhaust?

No. COBB does not list a tuning requirement for this cat-back, and it bolts on behind the factory catalytic converters, so it runs on the stock calibration. Adding a downpipe, intake or intercooler later usually calls for an Accessport map.

Is this exhaust legal to run on a street car?

COBB states that this is not an emissions-related part and can therefore be used on emission controlled vehicles. It mounts downstream of the catalytic converters and does not alter any emissions equipment. COBB publishes no sound level, so check local noise rules.

Why choose titanium over the stainless COBB cat-back?

The main gains are weight and corrosion resistance. COBB quotes 24 pounds assembled for the titanium system, nearly 50 percent lighter than its stainless counterpart. COBB also says the build gives a refined tone instead of the thin note some titanium exhausts produce.

How difficult is the installation?

COBB does not publish a difficulty rating for this system. It is a bolt-on rear section with slip-fit connections throughout, which makes it forgiving to align under the sedan, and the blued tips adjust for position in the bumper. A lift or sturdy stands make the job easier.

Description

COBB Tuning Titanium Cat-Back Exhaust for GV/VA Subaru WRX and WRX STI Sedan

COBB Tuning’s Titanium Cat-Back Exhaust for GV/VA Subaru sedans replaces everything behind the factory catalytic converters with 3 inch Grade 4 titanium tubing, and the complete system weighs 24 pounds once assembled. COBB puts that at nearly half the weight of its stainless cat-back. This is the choice for a WRX or STI owner who values finish and mass as much as sound; a driver who only wants a louder, freer exhaust will get most of that from the stainless system for a good deal less.

Design and Sound

The Titanium Cat-Back Exhaust for GV/VA routes exhaust through a bespoke straight-through oval muffler, and COBB credits the build quality with keeping it clear of the thin, metallic note that some titanium exhausts are known for. By COBB’s description it sounds closer to its traditional stainless cat-backs. Every weld is back purged against contamination, and the system is built in the USA.

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
