The Flow Forming Process

• A wheel manufactured through the casting process is securely attached to the flow forming machine’s cylinder and subjected to heat. Hydraulic rollers apply controlled pressure on the barrel, causing the wheel to stretch gradually. The material of the wheel undergoes careful stretching and compression to achieve the desired width. By tensioning the barrel material, it becomes stronger and lighter, similar to the characteristics of forged rims. This advanced technique also enhances the grain structure of aluminum, resulting in improved strength.
