The Flow Forming Process

• The wheel manufacturing process unfolds in several key steps. Firstly, in Step 1, a cast wheel is securely mounted onto the flow forming drum and subjected to heat. Step 2 involves the utilization of hydraulic rollers, which apply controlled pressure to the wheel’s barrel, resulting in its gradual expansion. Step 3 entails the meticulous manipulation of the wheel’s material through a combination of stretching and compressing techniques to achieve the desired width. Finally, Step 4 involves stretching the barrel material, thereby optimizing the grain structure of the aluminum and yielding a durable yet lightweight wheel, comparable to the strength of a forged wheel.
