The Flow Forming Process

• The process begins by securing a cast wheel to the flow forming drum and applying heat. Hydraulic rollers exert pressure to expand the wheel by compressing its barrel. Through careful manipulation involving stretching and compressing, the material of the wheel is adjusted to achieve the desired width. Stretching the aluminum barrel material not only strengthens it but also reduces weight, resulting in a grain structure that closely resembles that of a forged wheel.
