The Flow Forming Process

• The process begins by applying heat to the cast wheel securely mounted on the flow forming drum. Hydraulic rollers exert pressure on the barrel, expanding the wheel’s size. The material undergoes careful manipulation, involving stretching and compression, to achieve the desired width. By stretching the aluminum material used in the barrel, its grain structure is enhanced, resulting in a product that is both stronger and lighter. This process mirrors the technique used in forging metal for wheel production.
