The Flow Forming Process

• Flow forming starts with a cast wheel locked onto a heated mandrel while hydraulic rollers apply precisely regulated pressure along the barrel. As the barrel is gradually stretched to its final width, the aluminum’s grain structure is compacted and refined, resulting in a lighter, stronger barrel with performance characteristics that closely mirror those of a fully forged wheel.
