The Flow Forming Process

• Flow forming begins with a cast wheel secured on a heated mandrel while hydraulic rollers apply tightly regulated pressure along the barrel; as the barrel is slowly drawn out to its final width, the aluminum’s grain structure is compressed and refined, yielding a lighter, stronger barrel with performance characteristics that come very close to those of a fully forged wheel.
