How much power does the VF ECU Software for 991.1 GT3 add?

VF Engineering quotes 500 hp and 345 lb-ft from its ECU Software for 991.1 Porsche 911 GT3 models, gains of 25 hp and 20 lb-ft over the factory 475 hp and 325 lb-ft. The 4.0 liter GT3 RS starts from a higher factory rating, so its gain differs.

Does the software fit the 991.1 GT3 RS?

Yes. VF Engineering lists the calibration for both the 991.1 GT3 and the GT3 RS. The RS uses a larger 4.0 liter version of the flat six, so the VF figures quoted on this listing apply to the GT3 rather than the RS.

How is the GT3 software installed?

VF supplies the calibration as an end-user programmable package written through the OBDII port, so the owner can install it without a workshop visit. VF Engineering states that the factory calibration can be restored from the same port at any time, which suits cars kept for track days.

Does the software need an exhaust upgrade?

No. The calibration runs on the factory GT3 hardware. VF Engineering also builds a titanium valved catback exhaust for the 991.1 GT3 and GT3 RS, and owners combining the two can ask Bulletproof Automotive to confirm the right pairing with VF.

Will the calibration affect the PDK gearbox?

No. The ECU software works on the engine and the factory PDK gearbox calibration is unchanged. Shift behavior, launch control and drive modes all stay as Porsche set them, while the engine itself responds more sharply to the throttle at every speed.

Description

VF Engineering Performance ECU Software for 991.1 Porsche 911 GT3 and GT3 RS

VF Engineering’s Performance ECU Software for 991.1 Porsche 911 GT3 and GT3 RS is written for the generation that moved the GT3 to a direct-injection flat-six and a PDK-only gearbox, with the 4.0-liter GT3 RS following in 2016. VF quotes 500 hp and 345 lb-ft for the GT3 with the calibration installed, gains of 25 hp and 20 lb-ft over the factory 475 hp and 325 lb-ft. A naturally aspirated engine that revs to 9,000 rpm rewards precise mapping rather than brute force, and the calibration concentrates on throttle response and the clean climb to the limiter. It suits a GT3 owner who wants the engine honed and every factory part retained.

About VF Engineering

VF Engineering designs supercharger and turbocharger systems, titanium exhausts and ECU and TCU calibrations from a 15,000 sq ft facility in Anaheim, Orange County, California, where it has been based for nearly two decades. Every calibration is developed in house on the company’s own Mustang AWD 500 chassis dyno, ECU boards are handled in a dedicated clean room, and new parts start in an R&D room equipped with a rapid prototyper. VF reports that more than 93 percent of its supercharger systems are still running after years of hard use, many on their second or third owner, and its engineers carry the testing discipline of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series into every road calibration.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
